This is Don at prideandjoycards.net.
After Lee Jacobs passed away, we bought over 800,000 Pride and Joy Cards and My Kids cards and the copyrights to them, from Ramona Compton. We also have several thousand of Lee's original printing of the 8 X 10 Pride and Joy cards. They are all still available from us. There are still a few people bootlegging thin photo copies of these cards at about 5 to 10 times our price. There's no reason to buy those when you can get the real thing on heavy card stock for much less. Click here to view attached image. |

Mary,
I'm only an amateur, even though I'm 70 years old and been trying to be a real magician for over 60 years. Over the years, I probably bought more than 35,000 Pride and Joy cards from Lee Jacobs. When Lee passed away, his wife Ramona contacted me about buying all the cards and the copyrights. Lee told her that I had almost as much fun with the cards as Henny did and he would like for me to have them. Even though I have more then half a million of the cards on hand, I've never really tried to sell them in bulk, except to Johnson Smith and one magic supplier. |

Last week a magician sent me 2 P & J cards that he had purchased from a Magic Store in Virginia and they were thin paper reprints done on a copy machine.
I ordered some for $1.00 each and sure enough, they are very poor thin paper copies, so I decided to let it be known that we are here and that we have the original heavy stock photo cards from Lee Jacobs available. Tuesday of this week, I set up a simple web site for the cards. I would have made magic my career (or at least tried)if I hadn't been lost in the corporate world for so many years. For about 25 years, I had Lee print my company business cards on the back of Pride and Joy Cards. Back in 1988, I gave on of the cards to a Chinese customer while at an electronics convention (party) in Las Vega,s and he showed it to everybody there that night (after I explained it to him about 10 times) When I got back home, I called Lee and had him print their Company logo etc on the back of 5000 P&J cards and sent them to him in China. The company president wrote later and told me "Don't send any more of those cards because people in China don't think soap is funny"! Lee and Ramona used to sit at the dining room table most nights to count and pack Pride and Joy Cards. Lee made a counter out of an empty Pringles can that was marked up the side for 100, 200, 300 etc and they would always throw in some extras to make sure nobody got shorted. After Lee passed, Ramona moved to Sedona, Arizona and she passed away at age 64 on April 20, 2009, in Sedona. A gathering to honor Ramona’s life was held Sunday, May 10, 2009 at The Zano Farm. thanks, Don PS: Love your website! |
