I have a First Edition copy of Hilliard's Greater Magic (Carl Waring Jones publisher, 1938). I see advertised on an auction site a Revised Edition, 1945.

I know about the extended Kaufman edition, but I didn't know the original book had been revised in 1945. Is it much different from the original? More pages and topics, or just spelling corrections and minor editing?

Thanks!

According to Magicpedia (http://www.geniimagazine.com/magicpedia/Greater_Magic), the 1942 edition had the chapter XXX; "Old and New Apparatus" replaced by "Magicana" a chapter on historic books, periodicals and prominent collections and libraries. I would assume the same change made it into the later prints.

The Kaufman edition contains the chapter "Greater Magic Revisited" by H. Adrian Smith that explains the history of the book. It mentions that the fourth printing of 1942 was the second revised edition (with the mentioned change). The same text was then used through to the ninth printing. This would confirm that the 1945 edition has the same change.
