I love the look of Just a Cup, but I can't step up to the expense. Then I saw the ads for Daniel Raley's Multi Gimmick and thought, "Isn't that the same thing at half the price?" Then I thought, "So how hard would it be to make my own version of Multi Gimmick for just a few bucks?"
Can those who have some experience/ knowledge with these props give some helpful feedback? |

The Just A Cup gimmick would be both easy and inexpensive to make, but I don't think it would be appropriate to discuss it in detail. I didn't come up with it, so it's not mine to share...

Thanks, Tom. That's certainly the ethical way to regard the work of our brothers and sisters in magic. PMed you with a question. David

There have been other routines that used the same principle behind Just a Cup. One of these is sold by Christian Jedinat at Jedinat Zaubershop in Germany. It's called Kaffee Wette. It's very easy to use and considerably less expensive than Just a Cup.

But you have to admit Axel Hecklau has a fabulous moustache.

In the meantime, I took an old TT and cut off the bottom 3/8" of an inch to make a flexible ring. I had a small powerful m****t which I superglued out of sight on the inside of the ring. Works very well and costs almost nothing. (At least the first experiment slipped by my wife, who watches me like a hawk.) The only problem is that I can't pick it up and ditch it at will, but I might solve that problem in time.

I remember seeing a set of lecture notes by Axel Hecklau, which detailed how to make the gimmick.

The gaff from Jedinat basically eliminates this problem.
