Michael Baker Eternal Order Near a river in the Midwest 11172 Posts |
Many years ago at Bob Sanders' first Magic Valley Ranch gathering, several people who had formed online friendships here had the chance to meet in person, many for the first time. One of the guys even made buttons indicating who the Café members were. It was cool.
I'd just like to say that any of you would be welcome in my humble digs. There is always a pot of coffee within an arm's reach and I enjoy breaking bread with people.

I have no doubt that he could, I just don't think that anyone should. For their own sake. The Great Zucchini, because I think he gets the psychology of kids more than anyone. I like to talk to anyone who respects the intelligence of kids. There are many great childrens entertainers that I'd like to meet, but I'm not going to hedge and lump people together. MagicalLaurie, to apologize in person and to thank her for giving a $#1t about the planet. Without people like her things would be MUCH worse. I'd especially like to meet her in her neighborhood. I could benefit from spending time in a place that's not 99% concrete. gallagher, because he's Gallagher. If the man doesn't write an autobiography the busking world will be the less for it. Man, what an interesting book that would be. Dick Oslund. After such a long career it would be like talking to magic history. Plus he just seems like a cool guy. Those are just the ones that come to mind. There are others of course, but I've got to go twist some balloons now. BTW, I really do like puppies because they make me smile. :p

This thread is killing me. Like a few others, I hesitate to post names because I'm sure to leave some really good ones off the list. I think I've only met two of the regular posters at NVMS--Balducci and Pop. So far, so good! I recently had a nice second meeting with Starrpower, who is active at the Café, but not in this forum.
I've PM'd and emailed a few of you and have quite enjoyed seeing other sides to your personalities and feeling like I'm getting to know you a bit better. So I won't name names. If by chance you are thinking "I wonder (hope) he's thinking of me, you can rest assured that I am. I'm argumentative, but I mostly argue with affection. Mostly.

I would of course would like to meet Aces, lobo, General, slow, and a few other conservatives but I would really like to meet Bob, Nyctwister, Danny, Magnus, tomsk192, destiny, and many others who have widely different views than I do (Danny seems to be a conservative as well, we just don't always get along online, but I'd still like to meet him one day). Outside of the internet realm, I have friends from one end of the spectrum to the other. We all get along and enjoy each other's company a lot.

Yeah, I'd find it a bit awkward to name names and inadvertently miss someone.

That doesn't make him more or less popular than anyone else; it simply means that I have a very specific reason to meet him: a reason that doesn't apply to many others here. As for concerns about omitting someone from your list: I think that they're overblown. I listed four people. There are a lot more whom I'd like to meet, and I figured that I would add to the list at time went on. Others could do the same. Oh, well. |

Your intent was admirable. Sadly, though, one poster decided to derail this into a rant about people he doesn't like.
