MagicWebFX was reviewed by Ian Rowland for MagicWeek:

You invite any spectator to take a look at your website on their smart phone. They do, and they see that you have a few photos of you performing at various functions. You invite the spectator to name any card they want (no force of any kind). Let's suppose they say the five of clubs. You mention that, as it happens, there is only one playing card featured in any photo, anywhere on your website. The spectator scrolls through two or three photos on your site and, sure enough, they see that in one photo the five of clubs is clearly and prominently displayed. This really is the only playing card featured anywhere on your website, as they can check for themselves. Remember, the spectator is seeing this on their own smart phone the whole time.

There is no force, no pre-show, nothing written down. Whatever card the spectator names will be the one and only card they see, via their own phone, on your website. This miracle works every time and is under your complete control. It's a solo item, with no need for assistance or covert help of any kind. You don't even need to have your own website, as the trick automatically sets you up with what will pass for one. Many tricks that utilise smart phone technology look like exactly what they are: an app that anyone can download and so anyone can perform the trick. This doesn't. It doesn't look like anything except an inexplicable miracle.

This is a miraculous 'think of a card' effect that is simply magnificent. In fact, if I hadn't seen this with my own eyes I wouldn't have believed it's possible. The spectator is left with your website and contact details on their own phone, and with a darned good reason to show it to other people and shout about your miraculous talents. It is very hard to think what else you could possibly want from a close-up miracle of mentalism.

Hits the nail although Ian didn't mention the possible combination with a Pebble... I think this is the hottest app on the market - at least at the moment. Jan

Brett, yes that's it... and to be honest, I got two of them, the one you mentioned and a second in steel... you can use them as an ordinary watch actually, but as it is connected to your smart phone via bluetooth there are an increasing number off apps with can be operated through your watch... there is even a way (which I do not use, but Michael Murray does) to show on the display of this watch what you would otherwise read on the display of a dedicated receiver which belongs to Danish ID (you know what I mean...)

MWFX goes that far that you will change images on your already opened (!) website just by moving your arm. And it is on a spectator's phone which he has the entire time in his hand... I have shown that just yesterday to a friend who visited me to attend one of my shows. He knows, owns and has seen a lot. But that was something really quite impressive or unbelievable for him too... Well as always thank you Han!

I bought the app today and I am very happy with ut so far. I had a few little issues in making the app work on my own web site but Marc the creator was extremely fast in answering my email and helping me to get the right HTML coding on my WordPress site (I only know enough to be slightly dangerous with the web programming - meaning not much!).

Jan - if I may ask did you have them design for you teh custom photo option? That seems like a worthwhile investment at some point. I am using the wood picture frame on my site now with a 2nd photo that I edeited with a question mark: http://www.phoenixmentalist.com/mentalist/

Maybe I will get the Pebble at some point - bring it to MV and hopefully you can demo please Smile

Danke...

Brett, I love to demo it for you in October Smile ! The design of my website is done by a pro and some I have done (I can write HTML...). What Mark did for me was to customize one of my photos, which I provided, so I could use it with cards on my site. It was not really that difficult and Mark did a wonderfull and quick job. Did you see it on my site? See you soon, my friend! Jan

Super! So do you essentially ask the spectator to scroll down and stop just before the card is viewable I assume?

I can also see doing this effect by phone or even for radio without a doubt. I tried it yesterday in a friend in LA while we were chatting by phone and I was driving speaking on Bluetooth. As you know the app works on both your regular site and mobile. Very powerful!

There is also only a very short delay between when you get the confirmation buzz and when the card changes. Maybe 1 sec. I think this is a genius idea!

Look forward to seeing you in October my friend 😊

Yes, it is the way I do it Smile Actually I let people open the site on their device, but do not pay any attention to it, later they have to scroll down to see the picture... BTW it is something I am going to use on stage (with a Pebble), with a pure mental choice of a playing card. So till the very end I seem not to know the card... my theme is influence, once the spectator made up his mind mentally I will ask him just to remove his thought of card from a deck of playing cards, putting this card in his pocket (for later proof of his mental choice only... Smile )... and not only the spectator on stage holds his phone, everybody in the audience (who got a phone on him) as well. I am sure you get the idea and the overall picture... Jan

P.S.: I use a MD to gain knowledge of his thought of and then removed card. I show you my handling in Vegas. It looks extremely hands off. Of course you could use a m...ed deck, but I let the spectator put the rest of the cased deck in his other pocket. He can keep later the entire deck as a present...

I know by a PM that there is a bit confusion about my term "MD". It is not an el...ic device, it is simply the term for a me...zed deck of playing cards Smile. Jan

I'm in heaven - this is a really nice app and Jan's thinking is utterly diabolical.

I see a pebble in my future (or in my shoe!)

I bought my pebble on Amazon for 85 bucks. It is extremely cool. I am still practicing the Acc...... feature for MWFX as it is a bit awkward for me. But I have also used my pebble watch to crib for Glance and a few other effects. You can use it for Alan Rorrison's app called Any Dice as an extremely clever peek and the ultimate thing for it right now is the Pro version of IUYM. Also very soon Greg Rostami will have TeleFoto, RA and SupaThump with pebble features.

Updates:

I've added an option to put a Tweet button on your website. The default tweet auto changes with the card, i.e. if the card changes to the 4 of diamonds, the default Tweet when pressing the button will automatically change to "I've no idea how @magicmarc predicted that my card would be the four of diamonds!" or whatever you'd like it to say.

I'm still waiting for Apple to approve the latest version with CHaSeD support. The build was submitted over a week ago, though I assume Apple's review team are busy approving iOS 8 updates. I hope this will be out soon. I'm already working on 2.0.3 which will have another couple of small but helpful new features.

I've also added some optional code that locks the card to the user's device once set. This means if the spectator is on your site and the card changes to the four of diamonds, the card will always remain as the four of diamonds on that user's device in that browser.

I will likely support the Apple Watch when it comes out in 2015. This is dependent on WatchKit (and any potential Apple app guidelines) allowing me to build the app, and whether or not I'll actually buy one and therefore be able to develop for it.

MagicWebFX works perfectly under iOS 8 and has done since beta 1.

MagicWebFX also works fine on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus - these simply scale the app.

Very attempting!! A couple of newbie's questions:
- can you predict other photos than a deck of cards, for example picture cards?
- I have got a pebble steel, but what pebble does in this app?

Thanks, Mike

Hey Mike,
1. At the moment, you can only use playing cards as a prediction for the trick. If you'd like something else revealed, send me a message and I may be able to work something out for you.
2. The Pebble gives you an option to secretly cue the card by either using arm gestures using its accelerometer, or the buttons on the Pebble. It isn't necessary for the trick - you can still set the card using your phone.

Thanks.

Thank you for your kindly reply!
I will get the app and play around with it first. If I can adopt it to my picture cards act I shall send you an email. Smile

Thanks, Mike

I'm confused...
What if they visit your website again, let's say a week later..won't they find a different picture as the one they saw before?
Forgive me any language mistakes.
