Hi Guys - Just thought I'd share this with you - Available right now!
This DVD will change the way you perform close up magic. In this two DVD set, you will witness Tom Wright performing his number one set at high level corporate dinners. Naturally, this material, which has made Tom one of the most sought after magicians in Europe today is fully explained. However, that is not the real value in this project... Tom reveals for the first time, his unique concept of ‘Stand Up Magic’. Follow Tom’s philosophies and you are guaranteed: More Attention From You Spectators. Louder Applause. Better Reactions. A Standing Ovation At Every Performance! As well as Tom’s philosophies on Stand Up Magic, studio explanations are included for the following routines, including full performance patter and presentation: Bottle Production With Your Shoe Chop Cup Game Show Card From Mouth & Card In Mouth Bottle Penetration Plus Tom’s Ring On Rope routine as an extra little bonus. “Tom has the best chop cup routine I have ever seen" - David Penn “To create an original magic effect is rare. Tom has created a whole new genre! Stand up Magic could change the way close-up workers perform magic forever. It's an incredible idea taught with a passion and belief rarely seen. Every magician needs to see it, understand it and try it for themselves.” - Matthew Wright two-time FISM award winner. In stock and shipping now. Click here to view attached image. |

Interesting... from the ad text and trailer it feels like I`m able to fly after watching the DVD´s . However, I still wonder why someone is creating a "whole new revolutionary" style of magic and than using an "old" but established terminology for it. Don´t know if Tom is a member, but it would be great to hear a bit more about the unique things of this genre.... or am I asking for the secret here ;-) ?

Am interested in this a lot. It's extremely clear what the concept is, by watching the trailer. The only problem I can see is what happens when the food arrives?
I take it that Tom addresses this on the DVD? |

Don't really see what's revolutionary about making people stand up to do a trick. nah, you're alright.

Hi Guys,
Tom Wright here, I stumbled across the invention of S.U.M around 2.5 years ago when I was performing Oblivion I new I needed the table to stand in order for them to see the coin drop, as soon as I did it my eyes where open to a whole new world, I started doing more and more Infact every gig and every table. I discovered so many great things & the huge benifits of doing it. On this dvd I will teach you everything you need to know about S.U.M their are around 10 reasons why you should be doing this! I'll never go back! It's the best thing I've ever invented! Adam Paul- you ask about what you do when the food arrives, this is one of the reasons why you should be doing this, S.U.M stops them dam waiters plonking the food on the table at the pinacle point in your act. It gives you the fighting chance to wrap your act up without being rudely interrupted. This is just 1 reason why & there is so much more! On top of all this I am teaching you some of my favourite routines I've been performing and perfecting for years. Thank you for your interest Tom |

Is this not just walk around magic, but without walking around?
Also aren't, as you put it, those 'dam waiters' just doing their jobs? They're probably thinking 'I wish that dam magician would just fu**-*ff'

Looks like a good dvd. I have been using the stand magic or what he calls it for years. I normally do it as my last trick before I leave the table before I go to the next one.I make everyone stand up because some of the other tables think that you are actually getting a standing ovation from the table. And it also hides the final trick I do at the table so the climax is not seen by all the other table before I go to them. I mostly use this technique for strolling magic at big banquets. But again I am sure the magic is good on the DVD. I would like to see more of the chop routine.

I can see the benefits of this concept - however, I would consider the fact that you stop the waiters from serving hot food as a strong weakness. Of cource they might interrupt the performance which is obviously annoying for us magicians, but hey, we should remember why people go to a restaurant and for what they are paying for. In my eyes, that has something to do with respect for guests, waiters and good, expensive food .

I worked as a waiter for 8 years so I was on both sides. Yes you do want to finish your performance and not be interrupted but the waiters need to get the food on the table before it gets cold. If the people at there to see you, the performer, then yes this would work great, if they are there to eat, for a wedding, corporate event, etc then I think the food is the priority. Normally I speak with the manager about food times and try to synchronise myself with the waiters so we don't annoy each other.

I allready do all of the routines on the dvd when I work.
Obviously anyone who works professionally does this hundreds times a week. You have to, as it's how you pay your bills. As a result, the routines, patter, bits of business etc become very good.So if you do this, you to probably have the best chop cup, bottle production in the world. However, I think the real selling point here is getting people to stand up(that's why it's called "Stand Up Magic"). I for one, think it's worth checking out. Mike Donoghue |

I watched the DVD. It was fun to watch Tom do his set. He is very good. However, as Mike said, there really isn't anything new with the routines. For some reason I was expecting more as I was under the impression that the chop cup routine was totally revolutionary, and "the best chop cup routine" David Penn has ever seen. It wasn't a bad chop cup routine. In fact, it was very good as were all the routines he did. However, it's not the best (No one comes close to Paul Daniel's routine) and it wasn't really that revolutionary. The idea of performing S.U.M. is a good one, but it could have been a topic for Genii or for Reel Magic. I don't think it takes an entire DVD to tell you that there are advantages to getting your audience to stand. BTW, there are disadvantages too. Frankly, I'm torn as to whether overall it is better to have them stand or sit. Perhaps it depends on how much stuff is in the way on the table. I noticed in his live performance there seemed to be some rather large centerpieces on the table.
All in all, not a bad DVD. I picked up some nice pointers on how he approaches the table and how he gets people involved. There are some things he did that I would never do at a dining table setting, like produce cards from mouth and then hand them to the participant! That is majorly gross! One lady had an expression on her face that she was totally grossed out. I don't think she wanted to touch food after that. I'm starting to question the hype coming out of World Magic Shop. Certain dealers are spot on with their marketing and delivering what they market. For example, I have never been let down by Peter Nardi or Mark Mason. World Magic Shop has been very hit or miss. In my view, this would have been a much better DVD if David Penn hadn't overhyped it. Overall I think it is a worthwile DVD to watch, just don't get sucked in by David Penn's overhype. KJ |

I agree. It was the Matthew Wright quote that made me buy. A very underwhelming chop cup routine.Love the Mark James routine on his
dvd.

That video clip looked like drunk British soldiers who love anything with swearing in it!
