The biggest mistake sales people make is not closing the deal. When your prospect is ready to sign on the dotted line, when they're ready to move forward, shut up and close the deal.
My latest video blog speaks about his subject. For those who are interested, please click on the following link: Shut Up & Close The Deal To your success! Lou Serrano |

That clip/episode was a great lesson in sales, yet I have followed up with this guy (quite egotistical) who unfortunately still doesn't get it. What is ironic is the product he was selling was a sales course on...closing the deal!!!

Charliecheckers,
Yes! That's the episode! When Mark Cuban said he wanted his statements to reverberate through his whole body. Wow!!! That reverberated through MY body! It's such a powerful lesson. Thanks for sharing the clip. Good stuff. Lou |

My wife and I filmed for the 2014-2015 season of our (Canada's) version of the show "Shark Tank" called "Dragon's Den". A crazy experience to be in front of the panel and cameras like that. Kevin and Robert are long time hosts of the Canada show (about to start the 9th season) before going full time on Shark Tank. Definitely the most I've ever prepared for a sales presentation. I watched all 8 past seasons and wrote down every question ever asked and made sure we had answers prepared. Additionally, our customers and friends suggested questions too. No question or possible objection was ignored. We had stories and justifications for all objections we could think of. But, of course, things happened that we did not expect. If only I prepared this well for every pitch!

Thanks Rodney.
By the way I just checked out your website. Great website for your target audience! Congratulations and I wish you continued success! Scott, Congratulations on getting on Dragon's Den. I'd love to hear more about your experience on the show. Maybe when the show finally airs you can post a clip here on the Café. Lou Serrano |

What they don't tell you is that making it past auditions doesn't mean you're going to be on air. They film (on set and in front to the investors) nearly 2 times the number of pitches they need for the season. They keep those pitches that are most entertaining or otherwise fits into the flow the show/season. The rest are left on the cutting room floor. Even getting a "deal" on the show doesn't mean anything in regards to making it to air. I've got my fingers crossed but cannot promise to have anything to show. My 25 years of experience with audience interaction including very tough crowds was extremely valuable. Honestly, the pitch didn't have to do with magic/performing/speaking. My wife has a home based business which has grown very successful. The novelty of the product was almost definitely a major reason why we got on (as the seasons go on, they need variety)(ex. they've already had a magician on Dragon's Den so they likely won't have another). I'm under contract to not reveal anything that happened "in the den" until either (a) my segment airs or (b) the end of the season if we do not air. I'd be happy to share with anyone interested what happens in this type of reality show when the time comes.
