I just sat down with the booklet & cards,.......WoW !!!! The artwork & details that went into all of this is past awesome, gave a reading to my girlfriend when she asked what are those neat looking cards. Nailed the reading, she was really amazed as to how the cards read ! Super glad I got a few of the coins, I worked one of the coins into the reading which she really loved too !
I popped the cards into the card case & they slid right in, not too tight, not loose I would love to try to stretch it out enough to put the booklet in ( booklet needs to have a smidge cut off top ) & Mattcults Zoltar cards into case. For the moment I do have room for Zoltar cards & the Kadar cards with jokers & the 2 extra cards in the case & they are not crammed in & put the kadar card case & booklet in a black velvet bag with draw string, works perfect ! Chris did an outstanding job with the artwork, booklet & pdf's !!!! Very happy with the whole package & moonskin's Kadar card case is the icing on the cake ! This kickstarter project may have taken more time than planned, shipping prob's & not as much communication that should have had from Tao magic, but the final outcome for me has been well worth the backing & investment. & Chris has been as helpful as he possibly could have been even though he had no control of events or project, thank you Chris |

The cards arrived in Los Angeles today and all I can say is that they are absolutely worth the wait!
The deck and art work are beautiful. The level of detail in the cards and messages obviously a tremendous labor of love. As owner of the Devil's library, I had high expectations for the case and it exceeded on all levels. It's simply stunning, and the addition of the little note pad is just too cool. Personally, I can't imagine owning the deck without it. What I'm most taken with is the system itself. The little booklet that comes with the cards provides a wealth of information to get started. The reading process is brilliant and invokes a bit of carnival nostalgia. It starts out simple, but make no mistake.. this is deep stuff and clearly potential to go waaaaayyyy deep. My first reading was eerily accurate.. and all I kept thinking each step was.. "This is so cool.. this is so cool!". Kadar cards are clearly not a toy. It's just so much more than a deck of cards or even tarot cards. The whole package and system are truly outstanding. I'm quite excited to dive into both the magicians path and readers path books. There is a lot there.. ! I also want to say that as one of the more vocal critics of the shipping process on this forum I thought it only fair that I do a little bit of research on the nature of Kickstarter fulfillment. What I read made me a little embarrassed for my public venting. It's a jungle out there for the anyone who gets their campaign backed. The elation of having your endeavor funded can quickly turn into a soul crushing experience as so much of it is out of their control. Thank you Chris and Costas. I'm glad I participated.. and thrilled to have the Kadar cards and case in my hot little hands. I hear there are exciting things in the works over at Alchemy moon and I'm really looking forward to learning about what Chris is up to next! Give us a hint will ya??? I know that there are accessories the original Kadar owners are able to purchase, dice / tickets casting board... is that sort of thing planned for these decks? I'm now interested in the original Kadar more than ever.. would a person use both systems together?? |

They must be able to link. I would imagine that you could start with a standard Kadar reading and then use the cards to really dig in and take them farther down into the carnival aracade?
Thanks for sharing those great first impressions horus and merlin! Sidebar -- I just got a set of Kadar Kings and I am over the moon with them. The detail and impact is mighty. I've got a little brass stand to set the chosen kabinet on, so the sitter can gaze up into automaton when they set it in motion. Again, mighty. The Kadar cards are going to add a whole new dimension! Bring on those Elite sets.

I purchased an elite Kadar earlier this year & added a set of the king cards also ( SO love them ! ), between Kadar elite & these cards I have something that is awesomely special, adding Zoltar cards & Zodiac cards I have a reading power house in my possession !!
I forget to mention I used the Kadar game board that came with my elite when I did my 1st reading for my GF, really added to the reading I however fear for Chris' s sanity now,........have a feeling Kadar elites, game boards & king card orders may soon haunt Chris......lol, I am glad to have an elite & coins in my set up ! Sorry Chris, you may want to take a vacation before the upcoming swampage of new Kadar orders along with these new kadar poker card elites |

Alas the old kader elite has been retired as far as I know, so I am extremely glad I got in on the kards before they go out to pasture as well. I have mine sitting in the elite box and love how it looks in there.

I too have my elite box out on display horus1, the king cards are 4 larger versions of the reg kadar plate cards ( not the poker cards ). They are definitely better suited for a parlor environment, I love them as being larger they show the awesome artwork much better especially if you have a sitter or sitters that don't see as well with the items on the reg sized plate cards, were well worth the extra $'s when I ordered an elite Kadar package I like the reg sized plate cards in the carry around pouch from Moonskin for walk around. |

To be fair: As an update, Costas did not pack mine, so cannot be blamed. Gambler's Warehouse in Arlington TX may be good at shipping cards, but don't let them ship anything else! He will also be taking care of the situation in a positive, professional manner. I am pleased with the customer service after care. My case is being stretched as we speak.

That's great that Costas is handling this for you. In all the delays & shipping prob's were out of they're hands, but good th at he steps up to take care of problems that are in his hands to correct.
I just went thru the 2 pdf's & wow, packed full of info - Chris has given WAY past what I expected he would. He was right when he said they took over a life of they're own when he began to write them,.....he wasn't kidding !! |

My Kadar Kards arrived last week, but I was on a trip, so I am just getting around to posting about them. . .
A lot of this has already been said by those who received theirs earlier, but here goes: First, the cards are absolutely beautiful! I was fortunate enough to see some of the early artwork, so I had an idea of how cool these were going to be, but having the completed deck in my hands is a whole different experience. I have been reading with the original Kadar cards for a couple of years, and really love them. In fact, I have stopped reading Tarot altogether. The Kadar playing cards add another layer to the already deep Kadar system. This is a wonderfully colorful deck, in keeping with the tradition of the original Kadar cards. I have looked through the deck a number of times, and each time I discover something new. It is the most visual and intriguing deck your sitters and spectators will have seen. Front or back, they are an attention-getter. They have the familiar Bicycle linen finish, making them easy to handle if you are doing card effects. And the text on the cards will make learning the meanings a piece of cake. Chris Gould has outdone himself with these, and if you have any of his other effects you know that is really saying something. The Moonskin case is a must have, as far as I'm concerned. I have a lot of Moonskin's cases, and if you have seen her work before you know that, again, pictures don't do this justice. The cards fit perfectly inside, and the cover has a color pic of Kadar and the words Kadar Kards stamped in the leather. There are brass edges on the cover, and a little billet-holder wallet on the back. I also popped for the coin, which is nice and heavy, and very colorful. They will also be a nice collector's item, as I believe no more of them are being produced after the Kickstarter run. Finally, there are the books. Each one (Reader's and Magician's) are over 100 pages, and will keep you busy for some time. The good news is that you can get up and running with the cards right away, then spend as much time as you want getting as deep as you want with the books. There is enough material there to keep you going for a long, long time. All in all, these are a great value for the money!

Really happy with my my Kadar deck. The artwork is amazing, well done Chris Well worth the wait, having backed various "Kickstarter" projects in the past and understanding the nature of such projects, every single one I have backed has ran over time, for me that's not a problem, I really don't mind the wait, as stated before your not buying from a shop your backing a project and along for the ride. Ups and downs.
Sometimes there a queue to the funhouse, but the waits worth it Louis Cypher |

Yesterday I received an sms from a friend I did a reading the night before.
"Now I understand what the lightning means. I know the solution." It's _almost_ better thank the original Kadar! |

Is anyone else still waiting for theirs, or have I been Kickstarter shafted for the third time?

On Sep 25, 2014, Lucien Astor wrote: I did some research into kickstarter fulfilment once I started to get impatient for the cards. What I learned was that a large portion of kickstarter projects fall pray to dubious fulfillment companies and most don't know they've been screwed until it's way too late. The road to fulfillment is a dicey one and much of it is out of the control of the project. Because of this, many project creators go from the joy of being backed to feeling utterly helpless and depressed. So many so that kickstarter has now started to to try educate creatives on these pitfalls early and actively discourages many projects from attempting to fund their dream by this method. I did my fair share of complaining about the wait early on, but I have to say that my subsequent dealings with Costas at Magic Tao have been great. He's been very nice, totally pro and super responsive to emails and orders. I'm quite sure that an email or PM to Costas will quickly clear up your situation, Lucien. The Kadar cards and case are great. Having now received mine, I can state that IMHO they're worth the hassle of a dozen kickstarters! There are only a handful of creatives like Chris that truly cater to the our "spooky" corner of the Café. As I've said before, it would be a sad day for any one one of them to wake up one morning and say "It's not worth it..." I hope to see people start to use these threads to put some wind back into Chris sails. There are exciting things pending over at Alchemy Moon with the Oct 31 website launch. Kadar also continues to be a user driven entity. If you haven't visited the forums at Alchemy Moon, I highly suggest them! |
