OZ is pretty cool and thought out about there busking just google there local authorties and all will become clear. I have busked in Sydney and Melboune. Both are quite simple you go to the local office get a ID there and then and a regulations pamphlet and of you go.

Sydeny I busked in around a area called Pitt street mall and things are pretty good there. Melbourne I only did a couple f hours as I was passing and pretty much got away with what I could.

OZ has a healthy busking seen especially in Sydney there are mainly music acts with a few dance acts. In sydeny there are two young magician called Cardisrty and they are so much fun.

Yes what Alan said above is spot on - go online and you will find most of the info you will need.

The Gold Coast (Surfers Paradise in particular) requires an audition and will be difficult if not impossible to organise at short notice - but is a great place to perform because people go there expecting to see buskers.

In Sydney Alan actually came with me when I arranged my pernmit for the "Sydney City" area. However you will find that the area near the Opera House (Circular Quey) where the Sydney harbour Ferries are located is possibly the premium location and is seperate from the Sydney City busking regulations and is regulated by "The Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority".

Both sections of Sydney are good value for perfroming and their busking permit system is pretty much the same - no problems to arrange the permits but it will be worth your effort to look into it on line.

James James who you will find on this forum works Brisbane on a regular basis and he comes from Adelaide.
