Interestingly I did not dislike the movie , but did feel it could somehow be more. Don't know how or what I want but was left with that feeling.

Pretty much every question raised in the Sales Pitch above I thought about during the movie.
Best quote in a movie review: "The question isn't if Suicide Squad is as good as Captain America: Civil War, the question is if Suicide Squad is as bad as Green Lantern." |

Contrary to the critics, Suicide Squad has made it to the top of the box office Three weeks in a row.

Good for DC. It looks like they are trying to use Ben Affleck as sort of an Iron Man figure to string all the movies through.

How many of you have purchased the OMNIBUS reprints of both Marvel and DC? My big gripe with those Omnibus books is with DC. You see, in the Marvel Omnibus books, Marvel also includes the letter-columns from the back-issues. But, guess what, DC does not. Come on, those letter-columns are just as important. In fact, I remember when I used to buy those comics, the very first thing I did was to turn to the letter-columns--especially when one of my letters was printed in a Dr. Strange issue. Better yet was because Marvel sent me a post-card ahead of time telling me my letter would be printed. I still remember how exhilarated I felt when I got that post-card. That was way back in the 1960s.
So my gripe is that the Omnibus books from Marvel include the old letter-columns but DC does not. Small wonder that myself who began collecting as a DC fan is gradually becoming more of a Marvel fan. |

I have not bought an OMNIBUS book. But, as to the letters... I had a letter printed in 1977. Back then they printed your address when they printed your letter. I made a connection to a pen-pal in Hambug Germany. We corresponded for a couple of years till I went to college. By the way, DC sent me a post card too.

Just as you,Cliff, had a penpal via the lettercol, so also did Cockrum, but it was a lady whom he eventually married! |

Marvel's Ghost-Rider to appear on Agents of Shield. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-fe......w-929631
The reason I like Ghost-Rider is because he reminds me of that real-life motorcyclist-daredevil Evel Knieval who captured the headlines back in the 1970s. Does anybody else here remember any of Knieval's breathtaking stunts? |

As the newspapers used to quip,"Knieval broke every bone in his body except his pinky." Equally as amazing as his successes were his failures, his failures just as amazing because no matter how many bones he broke, he recuperated and kept returning to his performances. On the other hand, look at Christopher Reeve. Reeve had only one fall from a horse, and his whole body got paralyzed. In comparison, Knieval got severely injured numerous times, yet never got paralyzed. Note that Knieval holds the Guinness World's Record for the most broken bones. |

I watched the TV episode of the Flash, "Flahshpoint" last night.
I alwys loved the Flash going back to the 70's. Cary Bates and Irv Novick brought us some great comic book works back then. In the 90's I loved the Flash TV show. It was low budget and it showed, but I loved it anyway. Didn't hurt that the outside of "Star Labs" was the school I was teaching at. The TV episode that has been touted all summer just goes to show that DC has a lot of work to do to catch up with Marvel. As a stand alone episode it was not bad. My problem was the plot of "Hero screws up and must sacrifice to put it right" is old and tired. As the big opener I just felt it fell flat. be clear, without all the hype, I would have liked it better. DC seems to feel that it's TV show need to be epic. I think it is the wrong format for epic. We'll see how the JLA movie comes out.

The Flash is aimed at a different audience than you might imagine. Look at how dark Arrow is with just that hour difference. It is not aimed at the same audience.

Almost done with Luke Cage on netflix and while it's gotten overwhelmingly high praise, I personally don't think it's been as good as either Daredevil or Jessica Jones. However, having said that, it's still light years ahead of Flash, Arrow, or even Agents of Shield.
