I will always have Derren Brown to thank for helping me to have belief in my own memory! I used to think that I had poor to average memory however after learning of his mnemonic language for the 52 cards and various memorization techniques (memory palace being my favorite method by far) I was able to memorize entire stacks in less than an hour! I didn't even know it was possible until I was able to do it myself For helping me to learn how to achieve this, Derren Brown will always be one my favorite magicians of all time. I love his shows too therefore I am very interested in catching up with his latest work.

Very nice, I have an idea for forcing the card, but none for the number, it seems so clean ! unless he did a dual reality and asked for the number while everybody was clapping, anyway he has a unique showmanship, he's very very good !

Here is what Derren did for the same show (Stand Up to Cancer) in 2012: http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XNzUxMjg5NTIw.html It's the paint gun routine from Svengali.

Hey, one year old but as I just watched Infamous I thought it felt right moving it up.
As many, I enjoyed the show, but not as much as Svengali or Enigma, whose finales were much more powerful for example. About the finale by the way. I made a post downstairs for that but I feel it should be in this thread too. For those of you who have followed the magic news, didn't the Rubik's cube matching remind you even a slight of Steven Brundage fooling Penn & Teller? |

In the Cube FX thread Karl Heinstein was gracious enough to put this bit of history:
We credit Garrett Thomas and Gregory Wilson with having come up with the idea of doing a matching prediction effect (of course this can also be performed as a display of skill as I do in the CUBE FX routine). We have since been informed that Gregory Arce also created a prediction effect with a Rubik's Cube circa 2000 (which also used a paper bag in a different way). Gregory Arce was the consultant for a similar effect that Keith Barry performed on his 2006 TV special. It's difficult to know who was actually the first, but all three should be mentioned as well as George Tait (Patrick Redford) for also developing particularly devious cube matching effects and quick solves with a Rubik's Cube Greg P.S. In my stage show the entire audience would mix a cube. The last person got to keep that cube and place it in a bag. In the end, I would show a bag on stage that had been there all along. The cube in that bag and the one from the audience were shown to be mixed in the same pattern. Over the years I've done it many times and with various methods.

Wow, Greg. I did not know that. That was impressive.
I like that I do not know how any of the Rubik predictions are performed. There is joy in mystery. |

Thank you for the useful info Greg! I didn't know all that, really puts the Rubik's cube effects in perspective.

If Darren proves anything it's that it ain't the method it's the presentation.
Fabulous showman whose live shows are a million times better than the tv pre-recorded stuff. |
