I'm a huge fan. I have been performing professionally for only a year and a half but I have liked magic all my life. I always carry a deck of cards with me because I like to be ready all the time. I was wondering if there are some tricks you always carry and if so which ones? also I would love to know if there's a story behind why you always have those ready.

Austin,

While I usually have a deck of normal Bicycle, Tally-Ho or Bee cards either on me or at least in the car, I virtually never have anything that would be considered a single trick or effect with me. The only time those leave the house is for actual shows.

That said, I do enjoy a large variety of strolling and close-up magic effects, but I don't carry them with me.

If I can chime in Austin, when you have the skill that Jason possesses, you don't need anything but a deck of cards. I was very fortunate to spend some time with Jason and he rejuvenated me at a time when I had just got a little complacent. He is a super guy and awesome technician. Thank you Jason and would love to jam with you again.

Best

"The New York Papers," Mark Twain once said,"have long known that no large question is ever really settled until I have been consulted; it is the way they feel about it, and they show it by always sending to me when they get uneasy. "

Well maybe I din't really explain myself, I didn't really mean like carrying a gimmick or something like that, but having more like a favorite effect that is usually performed when he's not hired but feels like perform for someone. (like family or stuff). I know how skillful he is Smile.

So I will change my question to: What's the effect that you like to perform the most when you just feel like performing for friends? ( I think that would be the question that I really had in mind)

Austin,

If I'm asked by someone like a waitress or bartender to do something and I know that they don't have a lot of time, I usually either do a quick color-change where a Joker turns into their selected card or if I have a minute or two (and a shuffling surface) I'll perform Triumph.

I had 30 seconds in front of President Clinton once and did the Joker/color change routine.
