So I started thinking.. I really only see magic being performed in instructional dvds and such. You know, with that fake audience at L&L Publishing. While they are great for a dvd. I am still left wanting to see some great performances for real crowds. I can watch big illusions on old worlds greatest magic episodes or on Masters of illusion. But that is also not what I have been jonesin to watch.
I'd love to see some nice Mentalism, commercial tricks, smash N stabs, tossed out deck, you know, real professional worker type of routines and all the great or classic routines that are being done, that come along with that type of environment. And just to clarify in case anyone misunderstands what I said above, I am not saying that magic on TV or large scale illusions are not professional. That isn't what I meant, I am just saying I have already seen a lot of that stuff, and I am interested in finding more stage / platform / comedy magic acts. You knows, stuff that you would see at a trade show, or table hopping at a banquet, after dinner shows, etc etc. So other then what I stumble across with some searching around on YouTube. I would love to see some of the videos that other people enjoy watching. So please take a moment and post up as many links as you want, to videos that you love to watch, acts that inspire and motivate, or simply just acts that you have seen that are entertaining and fun to watch. I am stuck in bed because my condition has acted up, so I will be laying here for a good long while. So Im hoping I will get a good response from people and you all will be kind enough to take a moment and post up some videos to watch so that I can have something to keep me entertained while I am laying here. Thanks guys! |

First off, my best wishes for the speediest of recoveries!
I totally get what you're saying, you're talking about the kind of material I most like to watch...and I find it a little tricky to find, especially finding footage from "real world" situations. Here're a few, if you like them, YouTube will suggest more links by these and similar performers: Jonathan Levit's magazine memory demonstration: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfwUxyENQRo Christian Cagigal at the Castle: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtaalH-vE9U (a fair number of decent videos to be found just by searching "Magic Castle" on YouTube) John Carney, misers dream and the 11 card trick: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7CNSUXKEyw One of my favorites, Peter Samelson, has some nice clips on his website: http://www.samelsonmagic.com/gallery.html Norman Ng has some really nice "real world" clips on his channel. For example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7HUQNcs-3......&index=9 Hope some of this helps you pass the time!

I understand being layed-up. 40% of every day is waiting for my back and spine to co-operate.
Just change your criteria when searching youtube and an entire new world may open; ) Instead of typing magic, try "rabbit trick" or "ambitious card magic". The more specific you are, the better the possibilities. Here is my absolute favourite magician..... He's a genius, a magician to the stars, he's got the "IT" factor. Everyone can learn something from this man. The Temple Screen is especially effective. Devlin is the man. And he thought-out his costume too... all those holes prove that he's not hiding anything. Sheer genius. I'd pay to see this show TURN UP THE VOLUME WHEN WATCHING https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d00pTfhD4Vw&feature=youtu.be

It makes my day every time I see this master of the understated, this general of the specific, this Adonis of the Rainbow House.

Hope you're up and about soon, I know what its like. I have been flat on my back since February. The boredom is unbelievable, you get fed up with everything in the end.
By failing to prepare, we are preparing to fail.

Well, There are several lessons there.
He is living in the moment, fully committed, making use of what he knows & didn't ask for approval from anyone because he knows what's right for him Just think what he could do with an Egg Bag.
