couldn't see anything here about it...its been out a couple of weeks now... i am kinda interested, but at the same time - it looks a little too busy and tries to cover too much during the presentation...
I've asked to be banned

A demo filmed from a performance in English would probably do it more justice. The dubbing makes it look how a book test would play out in a Kung fu film.

I'm not wild about the reveals - I agree with Iain as it seems way too busy. Sometimes trying to make something look impressive or impossible - especially with two spectators - can have the effect of making it too long winded and heavy.
But it might be cool - or at least can be used for the next Godzilla movie?

I mean if any dictionary can be used how would this be a vast improvement over H*y etc?

Don't see anything new here.
By failing to prepare, we are preparing to fail.

It's hard to see what the Dictionary Test offers, besides the two reveals demonstrated in the video, and they aren't exactly original ideas.
As noted above, H*y's method would work with a dictionary. If you wanted to use an "ordinary" paperback, a F****B*** book would do the job. This doesn't seem to merit a commercial release . . . |

Hi
I'm Max, the inventor of Dictionary Test. There is no cover in the trailer. The video is edited becouse the performance lasts about 8 minutes. All the crucial passage of the effect are in the trailer. In the Dictionary Test there are 2 methods combined, one Know and one new, but the real new element is the combination of the two (one method cover the other one) As I say in the presentation, this effetc is a book test which is direct and easy to do. The spectators can choose two words form one dictionary. There is no list of words to write or memorize, no word forces, no strange moves to choose the page, no fishing. It can be performed again immediately with different words and you can use any dictionary, in any language. Moreover, everything can be completely examined before and after. In the DVD there is 2 versions of the effect: one with the gimmicked dictionary and one with a borrowed dictionary. |

Form the Jheff's Marketplace of the
Mind Newsletter: http://marketplaceofthemind.com/products/dicttest/ Not being familiar with the creator in question, I was a bit worried about getting another book test. However, there are some really good ideas in this. The dictionary test has two phases. In one phase, the participant thinks of any word on a page (as opposed to the first or last word) and is asked to write down that word plus any other four words. For the second phase, the participant looks at the last word on a page and then writes down three words that can be associated with the thought-of word. Naturally, the performer is able to reveal both words. I find these concepts quite unique and have not seen these before in dictionary tests, especially considering that there are no electronics. The methodologies are not new, but the thinking is what really impressed me. They're different. On the other hand, I do recommend that you look past his DVD presentation as I found it rather weak. He has both participants look at the two words and then waits until both have written their words. That's way too much dead time. I did perform this and after I had one participant look at a word, I instructed that person to write down his words. While the first participant was busy, I now dealt with the second who chose a word and received instructions. By the time I finished so was the first participant. And so I turned back to the first person and revealed the word. Then revealed the second participant's word. I also reversed the phases, but I'm not sure yet if that was best. I'm still working on that. The dictionary used is an ordinary one. I use a vest pocket dictionary, but any dictionary can be used in whatever language you need it in. You just need to make sure that the participant can read it, of course. There is some slight preparation involving the dictionary for one of the phases, but it is a one time set-up and there are certainly alternate methods you can use. I definitely used an alternate method, but that's because it fit my style. The DVD contains detailed instructions and performances. The original language is Italian but there is an English voiceover. I really liked many of the ideas on this and I'm looking forward to future releases from Max Vellucci. |

As other effects of Velluci, I bought them during a lecture in Liverpool.
In MPO his book test is great for more than one reasons: first of all you have a good reason to perform the test with a book and not just asking "think of a word..." In addition, you have two different effects at the same time with two person on the stage (a classical word reading and a sort of association test - a very psychological effect) The amazing thing is that you can do this with your own dictionary and one of the two effect also with a borrowed one. I test the methods with different dictionaries and one of the strongest solution is with the The Official Scrabble Players Dictionary (Uk version but I believe it is the same in all languages and editions...). More than 100,000 playable two- to eight-letter words... more than a classical dictionary! and if you use the Scrabble effect of Max Maven in the Prism book as an introduction, you can play more or less for 20/30 minutes! you kill the audience in an escalation of effects! I'm also working on the effect to adapt it to different conditions, as a route book. trust me, it's a real treasure and offers you a huge number of possibilities |

It seems as if 100% of professor Browne's posts are those in Max Vellucci's threads. Do you know Max?

Hi Brett
Hi Charles I introduced myself few months ago in the appropriate page... But does not matter 😃 My profession is different, I'm a really a professor in Uk University.... But I perform mentalism during my lectures and sometimes in shows... Usually steampunk stiyle. I wrote other posts in the past looking for electromic magnets... I' m not really interested on writing rewies to be honest, but I'd like to share my experiences with the products that I found good (when my job left me a bit of free time) I decided to start with Max Vellucci effects for two reasons: I like them and I use them in my performances, and also because I know personally Max since 2011. I appreciate him not only as a performer and effects-creator but also as a person. And I think that this is one of the most important thing 😊 I hope that my honest personal opinions could be useful for someone |

Please, reassure me. It's not only a classic peek and a useless presentation (I say that because you don't even reveal the three associate words...) ?
