I think it would be fun for Halloween to replace the balls with little skulls, but I'm having trouble finding the right size skull. The ones I have could work, but are a bit too small and too light.

Anyone tried this and have a source for little skulls?

One would think they would not only have to be the right size, but soft as well. If you're into the three-shell game, Stevens sells the shells as little skulls, two types:

Why don't you just get some cheap, air-dry modeling compound like Crayola brand, and make yourself a set?

You can build the stuff around a small ball bearing or lead shot for weight.

Have you tried going to one of the seasonal Halloween stores? They usually have rows of bins full of small tchotchkes, like skulls. You may find something there...

Guys, thanks for the excellent suggestions.

I'm planning on buying the shell game at some point.

I'll consider building my own with the white Crayola stuff. I've checked the local places, haven't found the right size yet. May need to recheck a spot.

Thanks again!

Two years go I got a bag of them at Dollar Tree. A bit large at about 11/4" but suitable for many effects.

1 1/4 is just about what I'm looking for. I'll just have to keep an eye out!

Try Archie McPhee's. They have a wide assortment of little skulls. I'm not sure if you can get them online. But they have some pirate skull pencil toppers that would work. Though you'd have to buy four sets to get a proper set of matching ones.

I also found some skull pencil toppers at Target a couple of years ago. Check party supply stores or this person says they have them http://www.eraserfactory.com/products_de......taid=158

Payne, I completely forgot about Archie McPhee's. They do pretty much have just about everything cool.

I did a quick search on their site for "skull" and surprisingly came up dry. But look around. They do have a heck of a lot of stuff in there...

This is for the shell game, but they're sweet. Ray showed you the Steven's link, but here's a little more info.

Ryan,

Just to let you know, the Dead-Man Skull Shells have all been reworked. They are now stained and look much better than before.
Also have many more added working features. The link below will give you more detail and pictures.
They are probabally one of the most deceitful shell sets I now make.

Cheers!

Al,

Those look amazing, and I hope they sell well for you. The bottom ridge is still my favorite--I had to retrain my brain to work without it.

This sounds great for anytime goth style.
Magic speaks to the child in all of us. No matter how sophisticated we become, there's still a part of us who wants to believe in an alternative reality, where we can defy the laws of nature.
