As I said,
I have seen Justin Willman perform that cut and restored headphone BUT he used a different method. |

I originally thought he was from Scotland but upon watching his performance it turns out he isn't (...but he is ginger so I was right there ) http://www.alakazam.co.uk/product-The-Se......DVD.html Andrew Mayne also published a C&R iphone cord in 2005 on his own website HOWEVER his method didn't use a TT. Unfortunately he also freely admitted gaving the trick to an exposure site http://www.wikihow.com/Do-the-iPod-Cord-Cut-Magic-Trick Hope that helps. P.S. Love the Tarbell video series you're doing. Will become a classic I reckon.

Is the preparation that is done for the Vanishing Cigarette also neccessary for the Asbestos Palm? I would guess so, but it isn't stated explicitly.

Jamie--
Thanks for letting us all know the history of the headphones trick. Sanderr-- No, you do not need to prepare your TT in any way for the Asbestos Palm. If done properly, the match will snuff out immediately from lack of oxygen. --Harlan |

This was one of the reviews on Penguin:
"This is a really nice episode. Dan as usual teaches the wonderful tricks very elegantly. I just think he went too fast over the part with the burning stick into palm. I burned and destroyed my thumb tip (and it also hurted like....), because I just followed him on the video. There was no description on what happens to the fire, when it gets into the tip, so it let me now with a destroyed thumb tip. .. my last one But really nice tricks! " I kinda agree with him in that no points on how to put the match into the TT are given. The lack of oxygen should put the fire out, but will that happen before the fire touches the plastic? Otherwise, something might happen to the TT or to my skin. Does anyone have any tips on this? Otherwise the lesson was great as usual, this just wasn't really clear to me. |

I do this since over 25 Years and my TT looks like new, even when I do the vanishing Cigarette. After a while, I take out the Foil and replace it with a new Piece. No dirty stuff anymore inside your TT and no melted Plastic. oh btw: I will buy this download as well, because dan is a fantastic performer and teacher and I'm sure I will learn new handlings and ideas.

I'm going to stick with it, because it's so great that someone of Harlan's caliber decided to put these lessons to video, with discussion and modern presentations. I've had the books sitting around for years, and have dipped into them off and on without really finishing any, but this series is really shaping up to be a great motivator and companion to the books.

It's likely that how many lessons are put out will depend on how well they sell so its very possible that no one has the answer to your question at this point. But its kind of like asking how much is my cell phone bill going to cost over the course of my lifetime? You either don't get any, or you buy them until you decide to stop or can no longer afford them. You may also decide to selectively purchase only those you think will benefit you the most. |

If someone has invested in the original and wants this complete course to accompany it, then it's reasonable that they should know how much it is going to cost. I don't think people can selectively purchase lessons if they subscribe. Penguin advertise the subscription "Subscribe to Tarbell and get a month of weekly lessons starting with Tarbell 6: Thumb Tip for only $19.95". Rich |

If Penguin produces 100 lessons then it would cost roughly $500 for all of them, if they produce 20 then it would cost $100. It is quite possible that no one knows at this point exactly how many will eventually be produced. But you can cancel your subscription at any time so its not like you are going to be on the hook for thousands of dollars. I would guess that after subscribing for a short time one will know if it is a worthwhile investment for them. Quote:
r99h wrote: That is correct, there is no need to selectively purchase if you are a subscriber. But if you find you are not benefiting from acquiring every lesson as a subscriber, you may choose to end your subscription and only purchase the lessons you want at that point, or choose not to purchase any. Still not sure why the eventual total cost is an important factor in subscribing or not. Admittedly, it may be nice to know how many lessons they are planning on releasing but that number could always change unexpectedly anyway. So I don't see it as an important factor in whether you subscribe or not, but if others do that's fine. I'm just saying that you may never get a definitive answer to that question and it would always be subject to change even if you did. Also, Dan Harlan is currently teaching all the lessons but that is subject to change as well I would imagine, and the individual lesson prices and monthly subscription charge could change too. So it is almost impossible to look into the future and guarantee an absolute total cost but if Penguin is willing and able to do that then more power to them. The key point to all of this is you are only committing to one month at a time as you can cancel your subscription at any time. |

Just wondering if I have the monthly subscriptions what the final price after all lessons are taught. I can not do the math because I'm not familiar how many lessons there are. No the price is not a deciding factor just was curious of what to expect after it's all said and done.
Thanks for your help... |

I think there are about 60 lessons in the book, so that should be about $300 if you get every lesson for $5 (or easier, subscribe).
