Hey all,
I'm purchasing an ITR and I was wondering if anyone had any ides of presenting levitations or animations in ways that eliminate the suspicion of thread? I think some levitations are just too obvious that thread is involved, are there any moves that can help change this or make the levitation seem more impossible? Thanks Oliver |

Don't do levitations...worst possible use of IT.

I've seen Morello use a phone on a table to hold one end of a loop. It distances you from the object. An should minimize wiggling. I'd suggest using an object or even 2 objects as the holders

On his Miracles for Mortals DVDs, Geoff Williams has a couple of effects with elastic IT loops. He has some thoughts about how to handle such effects without tipping the method.

Hi Oliver,
Have you ever performed for friends or relatives and asked if they figured out the method? Do it, ask how you can make it better. You can also watch other performers an analyse their handling, but please don't copy their styles. Yours sincerely Prometheus

You can get away with quick levitations, such as the one used in Robert Harbin's "Will O' The Wisp" (described in the Magic Nook's Dollar Store Magic - Party Cups). In that one, a ball of flash paper is "poured" from one cup to another, when suddenly it goes against gravity and rises back up to return to the original cup. It is quick, so no vibration is noticed. Just don't get fancy and try to make the effect all about levitation.

Hover ring and floating cigarette are pretty nice levitations in the right setting. Don't make too long levitation routines and with the right moves you can implicate that there are no strings, IMHO. With that in mind I've never been caught.
Yours sincerly Prometheus

For Floating Cigarette, the Steve Fearson hookup looks pretty good. Watch a demo here and decide for yourself.

I do like the concept that Levitations are the worst use of IT, keep those great mind blown reactions to myself that way.

Levitation effects can be good if not great uses of an ITR. It is all about presentation.

I don't do much IT work but Have seen many performances of IT. With levitation line giggle needs to be non existent, a slight gust of wind or abrupt movement making the line giggle then by extension the object gives the total game away. Make sure that your movements are steady and smooth. The proving aspect of IT really depends on the type of hookup that your using and what it can accommodate.
