Does anyone know where I can get some good information on this?
I have a genuine interest in hypnosis, and I want to research this and some other psychological principles, so that I may direct my magic in the direction that Derren Brown takes his. If anyone could give me any books that would be good on this subject that I could pick up at a normal bookstore, I would greatly appreciate it. |

Ormond McGill's "New Encyclopedia of Stage Hypnotism" has everything you need.

If you are serious about learning hypnosis, then I would strongly recommend that you seek out a good course (NOT a weekend wonder program) through a good organization, such as the National Guild of Hypnotists or the International Medical and Dental Hypnosis Association.
Why? Because you will need the information to handle questions before and after your show. Because you will need to know how to deal with a person who abreacts during your show. Because most insurance companies now require some sort of certification before they will issue liability insurance to cover your assets. It will also give you hands-on, supervised training and experience in both being a hypnotist and in being the subject. Nothing beats mentoring and in-class supervision to help one perfect their techniques. Once you have certified, you will also have a much better informational base from which to study and understand McGill's work on stage hypnosis. For information on the NGH, they can be found at http://www.ngh.net Hope this helps, Lee Darrow, C.Ht. http://www.leedarrow.com
