Hi guys! This is my first topic! I have a problem with Fire Wallet 2.0 by Theatre Magic. I got my wallet 2 weeks ago. Since I'm using I didn't have a problem with it. But now It is not working. I am using Zippo fluid. I am following the instructions correctly. The wicks are okay and nothing is damaged. I put the fluid on wick and when I turned the wheel sparks came out, also they came out really good like what they should be like. But it is just not lightning. After a 10-15 turns It is working but sometimes not. Also after 2-3 hours I tried again without putting fluid on it it worked in first attempt then in my second attempt, after that last It didn't worked. I tried that again after one hour and It is worked again without fluid. But just for my first attempt again. Everything is okay but It is not lightning. I checked forum but I didn't find any solutions.

You don't have to wait an hour, you just have to give the fumes time to coalesce. You have to understand that it is the fumes that burn, not the fluid itself. When you open the wallet, open it a little slower - allow time for the fumes to build. If you open it quickly, then the air current will dissipate the fumes and you won't get a proper ignition. Also, go for your ignition when the wallet is in a 'V' shape as you open it - don't try to ignite it when the wallet is fully opened (same problem - the fumes are being dissipated rather than allowed to coalesce).
The reason that it worked without the presence of fuel was because there were still some fumes present. Mike. |

I have the same problem! Exactly.
Mikes kind suggestion didn't help. I feel the instructions from Theatre Magic ate very poor. What to do. . ? Do any of you use other mixtures? |

I solved the problem!!!!
An issue many here in other threads have overlooked - some only briefly mentioned it. The flint! My wallet came with a very small - bad looking - flint. I went to buy a Zippo Flint and now it makes much greater sparks and my wallet ignites perfectly. This flint was notably larger and more golden. Try this if you have this problem! |

Michael Jay's suggestions were correct.
Wait a few minutes after saturating the wicks. As you partially open the wallet in a V shape, tilt it downward a little so that the fumes are slightly trapped underneath. In that manner the fumes are more concentrated. After it ignites, you can open it all the way. Avoid a drafty location. The suggestion with the flint is also good. But as long as you get a good spark, that should'nt be the cause. I usually stretch the spring a bit.

I'm having the same issue, but I never had problems lighting my first Fire Wallet from Theatre Magic. The Fire Wallet 2.0 just doesn't want to light. I'm going to try to find my original wallet so I can compare the two to see what the difference is.

Have you tried looking at the flint?

If I had to guess, I would say the flint is probably the issue. I pulled it out and tightened the screw to try to get a bigger spark, and while the spark "seems" strong enough to me, they seem to fall short of touching the wick. If I can find my old wallet, I'm going to compare the sparks. Might stop by a Tobacco shop on the way home from work today and pick up a spare flint anyway.

Buy Zippo Flints! They are way better than those that come with the wallet.

Thanks ComposerCopenhagen. I appreciate the advice. It was quite frustrating to pull it out of the box the other day and not be able to get it to work.

Still no luck. New flint didn't seem to make a difference. I'm at a loss on this one. The original wallet was so easy to use. I can't fathom why this one isn't lighting.

Have you tightened the screw?
Another thing I found out was doing my wallet was, that after putting fluid in, it went into the igniting device and made it wet. Then again it never started. Be sure not to make the Flint wet and not get too near there. Also don't put too much on it, else it will spread to the Flint. Please try this. |

Wow thanks guys!
I was using Zippo Lighter Fluid already. I stuffed a second flint in before I put the spring on to tighten it up. That doubled the size of the spark. Now it is lighting up like it is supposed to! My 10 month old just raised his eyebrows when the wallet went up in flames. Y'all are awesome! Thanks for sticking with me. |

Happy to help! I searched the café completely for advices on this matter and found nothing in all the threads. So for you and others something had to be put the down, and Theatre Magic offers Zero help... Not impressing.

I got my wallet yesterday and have been very disappointed so far. The wheel would't turn smoothly. And, I couldn't get it to light up after 2 tries.. I think the best idea would be to change the flint? I tried searching it up online, the popular zippo flint is the one for their lighters. I assume I can't use that for my wallet right? sorry, I am not very experienced with fire wallets, that's why.. any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Buy the Zippo flint, that helps! But even with that I only hit it 1/3 times, so I have given up on using the wallet in performance. Bad system!
