I am working on a new show, and am desperately in need of a certain prop.

It needs to be (or at least look like) a briefcase or storage box of some sort. BUT - it must not look 'magical' - ie it has to be real. It WILL be handed out for audience inspected.

The box/briefcase needs to needs to be able to hold a bag/box/loose casino chips, and be able to vanish them, but also make them re-appear again. I have looked high and low for this kind of box but just cant find anything. I think the hard part is the fact that it will be handled by audience members and that immediately cuts a lot of the options from the market out of the equation.
Is there anything I can buy that will do this? even if it was a briefcase that had a false button (where chips could be hidden) that would be okay..or a double sided briefcase - so one side shows it with chips, other side shows it empty.

Can anybody help me?

Perhaps by using a Fujiwaw(sp.?) gimmick you could appear to place chips in a case. Would probably work with up to 4 or 5 chips.

How big does the box/case have to be? How many poker chips are you talking about? Does the box/case have to hold other things as well? If so, what are they? Is the box/case a part of a themed presentation? What does it have to look like? Can some other container be used?

Barry Mitchell's Treasure Chest does this, but can't be handed out. You show it's empty by removing things from the main section. Then release your load. It was based on the old-style lunch-box. Would this be a suitable starting point?

The gimmick idea would work in a briefcase or tool-box to dump a load. But would take a lot of work to build it. Your original idea sounds very James Bond like.

What about building a table/suitcase combo that has a tip over trunk aspect built into it. Drop the briefcase behind the table momentarily and bring out the gimmicked case and place it on top.

You should try asking Michael Baker about this prop. If it dosen't exsist, he could possibly build you one. Ive seen his website loaded with beautiful hand made props. Give him a holler, he's a Café member.

I don't mean to be negative, but do you really HAVE to hand it out?
