My younger son and I were in a car accident earlier today. Fortunately, neither of us was hurt too badly. He's got a nasty knot on his head which I am monitoring tonight and a bruise on his cheek.
At the time of the accident I didn't think I was hurt, but after getting home and decompressing, I'm beginning to feel some twinges of pain in my back and my leg. I'm hoping it's due to the fact that I was standing for quite a while. The rear passenger door on my car is caved it and I can't shut it, but it won't open because it's jammed. This is one time I'm glad I relented and let my son sit in the front seat. Otherwise, he would have been sitting at the point of impact! The other driver didn't stop to see if we were hurt but thanks to a couple of witnesses, we located the car. The police classified it as a hit-and-run. I'm just glad my son is okay! Margarette

We are glad you're OK too, Margarette. You and your son! Coincidence (that your son was up front)??? Coincidences are just God's way of being anonymous, IMHO.
Glad they got the other driver too! It seems as if more and more folks who crash their cars into someone else's are attempting to speed away. I have been noticing this a lot more here recently. Take care and thanks for sharing. GlenD

Hi Margarette,
I am sorry to hear about your accident which must have been frightening for you and your son. I hope you do go to the doctor so s/he can check on both of you. If there is something wrong as a result of the accident it is best to get it looked at as soon as possible. A friend of mine was in her car stopped at a red light when another car bumped into hers. She hardly moved but because of the angle the car made contact, her entire back was out of alignment. She felt no pain but went to a doctor after her parents pressed her. She got x-rays done and sure enough her spine was a mess. She didn't feel any pain for about a week but it did eventually kick in and has had a profound impact on her health for a long time. I don't mean to frighten you, I am sure you and your son are probably OK but going to the doctor now might be a good idea. Even if it is just for your peace of mind. |

It is lucky that you are an escape artist. : )
Glad you are safe.

Ah! The most serious "injury" from the car accident was the huge headache I got from dealing with the insurance company over repairing my car. It took ten days longer than originally planned because the adjustor didn't see some damage to the frame of the car. Fortunately, it could be repaired, and my car looks great! It's almost like driving a new one! I'm happy I've got my car back, and I'm still glad that neither Ryan nor I were hurt.

Margaret,
I just read this post. I have to say this spooks me. I had my foot surgery the same day you had your accident. It had sleeted the entire day and night before my sugery so we (my parents went with me to drive me home) had to drive about 70 miles in the ice and snow to get to the hospital. On the way back, my father slid through several lights because the car would not stop and narrowly missed being hit at least twice from what I was told. I am glad you and your son are safe and I hope you guys will be just fine. Samuel
