Rumour is that Kevin Vickers, the sergeant-at-arms in charge of security on the Parliament Hill, shot down an armed gunman.
http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2014/......awa.html http://news.nationalpost.com/2014/10/22/......r-lives/ "After gunfire rocked downtown Ottawa on Wednesday, Canadian parliamentarians on lockdown seized upon the one uplifting narrative around: Kevin Vickers, the hero. Vickers, who fills the largely ceremonial role of protecting the House of Commons as sergeant-at-arms, was widely credited with shooting a masked gunmen who was on the loose around Parliament Hill." This certainly demonstrates that his role is not just ceremonial. Not to make light of anything, but he might have beaten the gunman to death with the mace he carries.

It was a spokesman, Abu Mohammad al-Adnani, who said, "If you can kill a disbelieving American or European – especially the spiteful and filthy French – or an Australian, or a Canadian, or any other disbeliever from the disbelievers waging war, including the citizens of the countries that entered into a coalition against the Islamic State, then rely upon Allah, and kill him in any manner or way however it may be." There is no evidence to link this gunman to ISIS at this time. More than likely he'll turn out to be a nutcase who wanted to join the cause, but had no official connection. But that, too, is just speculation.

Reports released on 21 October stated that authorities in Canada raised the country's national terrorism alert level from low to medium. The country's Public Safety Ministry stated that the increase in alert level was not in relation to a specific threat but rather in response to general concerns that an individual or group has the intent and capabilities of executing a terrorist attack within Canadian territory.

Well now this Nazi Muslim Brotherhood member has been disavowed, all we can do is wait for the next one to rise out of one their front foundations.

He did have Canada join the Afghanistan mission, although his reasons for doing so were not particularly clear. Interestingly, current Prime Minister Harper, who was in opposition at the time, argued that Canada should have been in Iraq for two reasons: first he thought that we should support the US because they are our long-standing allies and second (incredibly) he argued that the value of the reconstruction contracts would justify the expense of participation. Harper has been Prime Minister since 2006. His government is (for Canada) more right-wing than any in memory.

The statement was in response to an AP email which asked about reports that their son was mentally unstable or otherwise vulnerable.
