I live in Buffalo. The beef on weck debate usually splits out between Schwabl's, Eckl's, and Charlie the Butcher. I personally don't think Charlie the Butcher is in the same league as the other two but they have more convenient locations (they have more than one location). Eckl's used to have three roasts being carved at one time so if you wanted rare, you got rare, and so on for medium rare and medium. Always hand carved. Since meat is not as popular as it used to be, I doubt they do that any more.
For wings, most people still say Duff's. But their wings tend to be on the hot side, and crispy, so if you want something milder and less crispy look elsewhere. Google is your friend on this; lots of places sell wings and I don't keep up. Anchor Bar where wings originated does not live up to its reputation; I think they are coasting on past glory. Was this a serious question? Did I fall for something? Was this question meant for Vic? lol |

I haven't been to any of the beef places mentioned. I have heard that discussion. I would say that most bars in town have both and I have had many good beefs on wick. I haven't had the wings for several years as I try to stay away from deep fry. Sorry not much help here.

Had you and Tom made it to Danny's, I would have taken to you Eckl's. In my opinion it's the best beef on weck in town. Anchor Bar is still the place for wings. Besides, the owner, Ivano Toscani, used to come into the Forks and was a student of Eddie's. So, all the more reason to go to Anchor Bar. |

I feel the need to chime in here and just mention that hands down the best wings are at Bar Bill in East Aurora. They also have some truly amazing beef on weck there as well so you can get both of those in one place.

My vote for best Beef on Weck is Conner's in West Seneca. I've been enjoying their BOW for over 15 years of visiting the Buffalo area.
More to the point, however, I've got to say the Vic is a treasure to the magic world. He's a downright awesome guy, his magic is fooling and his methods are so, so thoughtful and creative. Last week at the 52 convention I sat with Vic for maybe an hour, hour and a half. He must've shown me 5 or 6 awesome tips of his on moves or subtleties that were original with him. Just awesome. I cannot sing his praises enough - as a person or as a magician. |

Tough choice, I love Eckl's AND Schwabl's.
I think I'd choose Eckl's for the overall ambience. But Schwabl's gets a bit of an edge in the winter because of those old school Tom & Jerry's that they serve! |

The decanting is an added super-bonus. Please continue to keep me posted on all the fabulously tasty treats that I've missed. HaHaHa. |
