Thanks for the great review, Tom! I understand that not everyone will like every trick on the disc, but I am happy you enjoyed the majority of the DVD!

I briefly talked about some additions to Clasped, the borrowed ring to necklace, in my recent Penguin Live lecture. This was just one of the MANY things taught, so if you're interested, it's definitely worth the $30 price tag!

This was definitely money well spent! I've been performing Fuel at both of my restaurant residencies for a few weeks now, and it kills. It actually gets MUCH better reactions than I thought it would, which just goes to show you: sometimes as magicians, we get a little complacent. I think that due to our wealth of knowledge, it gets easy to forget that, for the most part, lay people don't understand our methods -even the most basic ones- and probably never will. A lot of the things that we find 'routine' are still totally amazing to the average Joe. Then, Jeff comes along and throws a delightfully modern, relate-able, every-day twist on a classic plot, and BAM! Instant astonishment. I really enjoy your thinking, Jeff. Great stuff, man.

Thanks, Matty! Fuel is something I perform often; it is one of the most practical and strong pieces on the disc. The multiplying logo ending finishes with a completely examinable, altered lighter - yet the reset takes just a second.

Remember, Voices contains gimmicks so you can get started immediately. In fact, the supplies included can make three Fuel gimmicks, so you can have them ready in different environments. My friend likes to keep one in his office desk, one in his home drawer, and one in his car. If you ever need additional gimmicks, the disc includes a PDF file that you can easily print at home.

Overall, there are seven tricks fully explained on the DVD. I am confident everyone will find something they enjoy, and at the $25 price tag, it is an amazing deal!

Hey, Jeff, speaking of the Fuel gimmick... Are we able to order replacements from you? They are really high quality, but at my restaurant residencies I can easily perform this 10 times a night. All that handling and moving in and out of my pockets is taking it's toll. I actually just finished making my third gimmick this evening, so I'm going to need more! Thanks, man!

EDIT: I want to make sure this didn't come off the wrong way... The Fuel gimmick is excellent, and for the hobbyist, you should never need another one. In fact, I could see most working magicians never needing a new one either. But if you are a table-hopper working a few restaurants/clubs every week, you tend to put some serious miles on your equipment. Even the most sturdy gimmicks wear out a lot faster than they typically would.

Matty - I have sent you a PM regarding additional gimmicks. If anyone else is in need of refills, please feel free to message or e-mail me.

There are two new verified reviews over on Penguin Magic. I have copied them below for you to read:

Quote:
After receiving this in the mail I was pretty excited to see what I could do with all the stuff. After watching the video I instantly started having ideas of my own. This is a great dvd to buy, and the effects are amazing. I highly suggest this to any magician wanting to do some more close up magic, and even a little bit of impromptu if the spectator has the right type of lighter.

Wayne Kawamoto, official magic writer for About.com, reviewed Voices!

CONTAINMiNT, the color changing Tic Tacs, was seemingly one of his favorites. He wrote, "There have been color changing packs of Tic Tac Mints in the past, but this one is based on an amazing method that I have never before seen. This effect has a fantastic method at its core."

Overall, Wayne says, "I truly had no idea what to expect with Jeff Prace’s “Voices.” But I discovered a good collection of well thought-out effects for casual settings. This one has definitely found its voice."

I would like to chime in and say this was an amazing buy for me. I purchased directly from Jeff and received excellent customer service the whole way through.Every effect was great in my opinion .If nothing else the creativity and the thought processes that went into these effects was worth it for me. I'm actually working on different approaches for flavorless as the method really peaked my interest and got my own creative juices flowing.

Clasped is amazing and so is Containmint and Fuel.

All in all a great purchase (Worth it all just to see how creative Jeff is and the way he approaches magic is just wonderful.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Thanks again Jeff.

Another review came in! This one is from Stuart Philip on My Lovely Assistant. Below is an excerpt:

"Voices by Jeff Prace is a collection of tricks using everyday objects presented on a well-produced DVD. These tricks will resonate with magicians that want to appear as if they are doing impromptu magic with ordinary everyday items such as gum, tic-tacs, a bic lighter, a cup of soda, a necklace or headphones. It is interesting to see how Prace goes about his art and his creative process. Voices is a creative project."

Here's the excerpt:

"I enjoyed this DVD. Jeff Prace is a clever thinker. While nearly all of the tricks require some construction, in most cases they are worth the effort."

Sorry to keep posting, but another review has been posted! This one is from Magic Junkies:

"Jeff Prace is a clever guy. Really clever. Somehow Jeff Prace managed to get a few extra doses of creativity and the magic world is better for it. He consistently creates magic that is straight-forward and powerful, often with normal objects like gum, keys, headphones and other common items. This DVD features 7 very clever ideas that are perfect for “impromptu” situations.

"The DVD is well produced with great video and audio. Jeff is also a very good teacher. He goes through the construction and handling of each item thoroughly.

"We all know that magic performed when its least expected is some of the most powerful magic you can do. As magicians we should arm ourselves with effects we can do at a moments notice. The magic should be strong, straight-forward and use common objects. If you are looking for magic like that, Voices is a great place to start."

Voices – Jeff Prace

Product description : This is the new collection of tricks that is brought to you by the one and only Jeff Prace. Inside you will find 4 effects and 3 bonus one. Gum, ring, lighter, tic tac, no card tricks inside ! That wil be a strong pros for me, at least a multi trick DVD without a single card trick, yeah !

Price and where to buy it : This is sold at $24.95 and you can find it in nearly every Murphys partner (so you can get it at your favorite magic shop)

What you get : You get a DVD of more than an hour, a bunch of stuff to make out your own gimmick. Everything seems to be quality, the teaching on the DVD is great and the atmosphere they put is very cool, you don't have the impression watching a magic DVD, very cool indeed.

Teaser : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hsA067JbXqk

The pros and the cons : Here is the core of my review, let's begin with the cons, as I will usually be doing, I prefer to keep the good things for the end.

THE CONS :
- It will be a 100% art and craft DVD. Don't get me wrong, I love DIY stuff, I love making my own material, I find it to be a very good way for creating new stuff and you know you can rely on the material since you built it. But this could be a con for anybody who hate Art and Craft, since literally every trick on there will require it at some point (There are some exceptions)
- You do get a lot of stuff but you need buying some other things (lighter, necklace..) so you can't, for most of the trick, start of directly performing them (or you have the stuff needed at home). I wish the add copy would state what you need so that you can buy it before receiving the DVD and be ready for the making of the gimmick.
- Some trick may won't fit your style, those who don't use headphone won't use the headphone trick for example (but at the same time, it can sparks your creativity and you may discover new things you wouldn't have done before)

THE PROS :
- As I said, you do get a LOT of stuff, this is very generous from Jeff, he gives you enough to make multiple gimmick for each trick.
- Some trick, well at least one, are completely impromptu. The straw thing is very cool if you are in a fast food since it requires no setup or gimmick and the illusion is (very) convincing. Other tricks, as long as you have them on you, do not require any kind of extensive setup which is a nice thing.
- The color changing tic tac box is a thing of genius, the method is very cool. You do see tic tac moving before AND after the transformation, it's not a simple picture stuck on the box. I think this method can be used with other object, I just have to find which one.
- The part on creativity where Jeff gives you some advice is great. You could be the best inventor in the world, you still have things to learn and those 15 minutes weren't wasted at all, it was fun and interesting.
- I love the ring flight, I think it beats every other methods on the market, it's very simple but so effective ! You borrow a ring, make it vanish and it reappears on your necklace ! How crazy is that ? The method is ingenious as every other one on the DVD.
- The routine called « Fuel » is the one I will definately use. It's an organic piece of magic with a regular Bic Lighter. Jeff has added a few of his own touches so the whole trick looks awesome and you have a nice kicker at the end.
- The price is very reasonnable, for $24.95 you get at least 3 workable tricks with stuff included ! It's less expensive than a download.

Overall rating : I really enjoyed this product, I think it has one or two gems hidden in it. The only thing is that you will need to make your own gimmick, which doesn't bother me at all so I give it a big 4/4 hearts, I really liked this, since one trick went straight in my repertoire, it's worth the $24.95 !

As for the difficulty level, all tricks are fairly easy to do but will require some skills in art and craft so 3/5 stars but only for the making part of the tricks.

Similar products : I can't find any other project about various trick not using a single piece of card ! This is kind of unique which is quite cool I think, nice work Jeff.

Thanks to Murphys Magic for sending me this product !

Thanks for the great review, Alexis! For those of you that speak French, Alexis also uploaded a video review of Voices: https://youtu.be/YuWl8CwW6iQ

Plus, if you subscribe to Reel Magic Magazine, Wayne Kawamoto reviewed Voices in the most recent issue, number 41 (Brian Gillis). I will try to post the video at some later point, but it was a great review!
