Jeff's New DVD is out and it looks great!
What do you guys think? I've already placed my order. http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/4865 Hi. My name is Jeff Prace. And I hear voices. Filtering through hundreds of murmurs, I have extracted four astonishments, each one unbelievable in effect and innovative in method. FLAVORLESS A chewed piece of gum becomes new again in a fraction of a second. CONTAINMiNT A container of orange-flavored mints transforms to those of a different color. *gimmicks included* CLASPED A borrowed finger ring melts away and arrives secured on the magician's necklace. FUEL The logo on a standard lighter dematerializes and travels before multiplying in the spectator's hand. *gimmicks included* Additionally, I perform and explain three bonus tricks utilizing drinking straws, headphones, and lighters. The disc also includes a 15-minute session on creativity, in which I present in-progress ideas with the hope of inspiring original thoughts. The voices have been quieted. |

Hey guys, I was lucky enough to get an early copy of this project and I have to say that the product description doesn't do it justice. Now anyone who knows me knows I've been friends with Jeff for years and I'm a huge fan of his work, so I've seen these routines evolve from start to finish. Containmint for example, has really improved on existing versions of the color changing tic tacs. Now you can shake the mints in front of your spectators and they will see them move both before and after the change. Clasped is a ring flight using a necklace and is super simple to do. I've seen similar versions using a necklace that cost upwards of $100 and require the use of a reel, Jeff's version can be made for a few bucks and resets faster than any ring fight I've ever seen. Fuel is a much needed updated version of Mark Jenest's fantastic No 2 Pencil. Its packs small, plays big, the magic happens in the spectators hands, the ending is logical, and there are some really great subtleties that Jeff covers! Flavorless is a really great trick with a piece of gum, and as anyone who is familiar with Jeff's work, knows that he is the gum master! Hell, David Copperfield called Jeff a great magic inventor based of off one of Jeff's gum tricks. Jeff also covers his creative process and has a few other great bonus effects, including a ringflight with an iPhone (again this will only cost you a few bucks to make), another trick using a lighter where the logo vanishes from your spectators lighter and reappears on your lighter in their hands, and an effect where you're drinking something and your audience can see the drink change right through the straw and you end 100% clean. Yes this DVD might not be a brand new trick that you've never seen before, but for 25 bucks you get seven killer routines that aren't cards or coins.

Thanks for all the comments. I am extremely proud of the material on this DVD, and I believe it's a great deal: $25 for seven full effects, gimmicks, and a 15-minute session on creativity. This DVD is packed with information.
When you order through Penguin Magic, you get a bonus 'Light Flight' for FREE. This is usually a lecture-only giveaway, but I have allowed Penguin Magic to have a few copies. I have uploaded a quick webcam performance. Remember, this is a FREE bonus when you order: http://youtu.be/uwAaXqKnZRs Later tonight, I will be giving away the performance and explanation of one of the three bonus tricks. I think you guys will find it clever and magical, and it will give you a taste of what is on this DVD. Stay tuned! |

I figured I'd chime in since I own the DVD. I finished watching it about a week ago, and I've already incorporated one of the routines into my walk-around set (Clasped).
I have to side with Josh about the description and demo not saying enough about how good this material is; I was really, really impressed by the originality on this one. It's really refreshing to finally see a DVD that has material that is ready for (as I have been!) performing in the real world. Every trick was good, but the stand-outs for me were: Clasped, which is a ring to necklace. Out of the literally thousands of methods I've seen this year, I'd have to say the method for this one easily is within my top five favorites. Strawesome, which is a neat thing with a straw when you're at a restaurant. It's situational, but if you know about my magic, you know how much that appeals to me. The Creativity Session, which was a 15 minute talk on creativity. It was really neat to see Jeff's process, as he constantly impresses me with his material. I definitely wouldn't have the guts to talk about my process and share unfinished ideas on DVD, so my hat is off to Jeff for doing it (and for it being helpful!) I plan to perform more off this DVD when I get the chance, for sure. It's some truly original, performable stuff that I definitely recommend. All the best, -Chris |

Why do people say X-amount of routines with Y-amount of bonus routines.
Why not just quit using buzz words and say X+Y Routines! And also, if everyone keeps saying the AdCopy/Trailer does not do the DVD justice, why not change it so it does do it justice? And a trailer with just music, jump cuts, and text, bad idea man....

As promised, here is the performance and explanation to one of the bonus effects on Voices - absolutely FREE. Strawesome is a situational piece of magic, but it's smart and fooling. You can download it at no cost through Theory11's 'Wire.' Enjoy!
http://www.theory11.com/wire/jeff-prace/strawesome/ eboetcker - I didn't see anyone say the trailer does not do the DVD justice. Also, we live in a strange world where logic does not dictate consumer behavior. My school studies are in marketing, and I am confident in this product and my ability to sell it. (I also help with marketing for Paul Harris Presents.) Chris - thanks for the kind words. I'm glad you're enjoying the disc! |

Some people asked what the bonus effects were, so here's a list and quick description of each:
STRAWESOME One drink changes to another of a different color through a clear straw. IFLITE A borrowed ring vanishes and reappears impossibly attached to your headphone cord. LIGHT FLIGHT The logo from a borrowed lighter jumps to your own. *gimmicks included* |

Dear fellow Magi,
I just received my package today and I can't sing high enough praise for the very first Jeff Prace Productions DVD! Voices is in my mind a real steal for what you get. 7 practical and organic pieces of strange with gimmicks! Plus, you also get 2 PDF files, so that you can keep making warped objects and leaving them to your spectators as souvenirs!!! The methods to all of the effects are very clever. I can't wait to have fun performing these and see the impact. Jeff explains everything in a clear manner and is very easy to follow. In my honest opinion, the 15 min session on being creative is worth the price of the DVD. Get this, or you will be one step behind. Seriously. This is some forward thinking you'll be missing. P.S. The artwork is very nicely done and the production is very good as well. BRAVO Jeff! Keep them coming please. Regards Aljaž |

***N THIS IS GOOD!
All of the effects are GREAT! Standouts: tic tac change, ring flight, strawesome and bic thingy. I will post a detailed review, but I can say that I will use almost every single effect off here! All uses simple to make gimmicks (some provided) and is usually very organic. The ring flight is the cheap man's Closure, but better! |

Sashac - I'm glad you enjoyed the DVD! I look forward to your review.
MagicBrent - While the plot is the same, the methods are quite different. With Clasped, the ring they feel through your shirt is actually their ring, so there are no discrepancies with ring size or shape. Also, you do not need to unclasp the necklace before the reveal. Aljaz, who posted above, made a quick video review. Inside the video is a performance of CONTAINMiNT, the color changing mints. He did a great job! http://youtu.be/2o-9Uw6hjtA Finally, William Draven posted a full review here on the Café. There is nothing fishy happening and nothing essential to the method, but you must go through the process. The ring flight is EXTREMELY similar to Closure but very very very much simplified with no weird accessories, it is just you and the necklace, NOTHING else. It' super practical and very commercial. |

I've been waiting to post my review because I'm making up all of the effects. I'm waiting on materials for "clasped" and once I receive them and perform it, I will post a full review.

On last Friday's Expose, Andrei Jikh briefly talked about one of the bonus tricks on VOICES, Strawesome. Remember, this is also a free download over at Theory11.
Jikh said, "Jeff Prace should start charging for this as soon as possible, because it's just too good. It's absolutely genius." Strawesome is just one of the seven effects featured on the DVD, and the others are equally as fun, clever, and astonishing! |
