My suggestion is to get Harry Lorayne's Magic Book. But you asked for tricks:
1. Sponge Balls
2. Learn to use a Thumb Tip
3. Invisible Deck

Try a few, work on them, make your personality fit them. Have fun.

Don't discount the easier, especially when starting. There is some great magic that is not too difficult but gets great results. The advantage, especially when starting, is you can mix in an easier routine with a harder one and it takes some of the stress off when performing. One technically difficult trick after another can be challenging when starting out, and even later. Keep in mind that the goal isn't to impress people with your technical ability, but to entertain them with your magic. Less difficult tricks allow you to focus more easily on your presentation. When you are focusing so much on the mechanics it can take away from your performance. Eventually with a lot of practice and performances, the mechanics will become easier allowing you to focus more easily on the performance. It is all about the performance not the technical skill. Good technical skill is simply required so that the trick doesn't get in the way of an entertaining performance of the trick.

I'm pretty new top this myself and my first performance was a 45min set with around 10 tricks in it - the tricks went well but my performance was lacking if I'm honest. I think pick 1 or 2 of the above and really focus on the performance of them.

Hi maybe not the good thread to ask this, but I am starting mastering the technic on those tricks (not all of them) and performed for close friends. How could I try and perform for random people, any advice on how to start to do that? Thanks !
