Simple. Get a metal TT. The plastic ones were never meant for cigarettes.

You can place a moist piece of cotton in the tip. That puts out the light.

Don't reject foil just yet.
You place a small piece of foil in the tip. Then you make it stick with bandage tape (makes the TT look even more like your skin color), and this will be enough.
I've used this application in my Vernet hard'tip, and (without exaggreating) burnt at least 50 cig's in it, and it still looks good.

I have some metal TTs. I inherited them, never used them.

I'm in the UK - London, actually.

PM me if you need one.

Years ago I used to do the lit cigarette in the handkerchief routine at least 30 times a day for weeks on end. I used a Vernet hard plastic one and NEVER had a problem with it. I used to let the cigarette burn and smoke for at least 20 seconds before the vanish. The tip looks a little dark from the outside but that is never a problem if you use it correctly. I have never used the soft plastic for cigarettes so I don't know if they are any good or not.

You could also try putting some putty down in there... but with the hard plastic TT, except for a bit of a scorch mark on the inside, it hasn't ever burnt through, and I don't expect it will any time soon.

It is possible to glue a thimble in the bottom of your TT?

Try it out. See if it works for you. Smile

If I were you, I would definitely get a metal one. I just have a regular TT as I don't experiment with doing the cigarette trick. I might sometime, but am busy with other things right now. Smile

The rubber TT from Japan would solve your problem. As for your worn out tips, keep them, you could use it as a p**l.

Whenever I do this trick I just put very little piece of paper that I roll up into a ball and punt it in my TT.

I do not use anything in my tip...I'll do the vanish two to three times on some days. At least 30 to 40 times and my hard one seems fine. I wash it out as I don't want to wreck my silks. Should I use something in there? Thanks. Smile

I've never had a problem with cigs in my tip. Granted, it's starting to look like an ashtray on the bottom, but the outside looks fine. I wouldn't try it with my rubber tt, though.

I have found that if you make sure to push your thumb in snug, the fire goes out quickly due to the fact the oxygen supply has been cut off. Also, try and use the shortest cig available.

You do not need a metal TT to vanish cigs.

Taken the above advice on soggy paper. Works a treat. Thanks a lot.

Believe it or not, but a one inch square piece of PAPER folded in half to fit the bottom of the TT works fine. There's no danger of the paper catching on fire as the cig is pushed into it snuffing the cig out before it can catch fire. Just push the cig into the TT, followed by a firm push with thumb. You'll be able to empty the TT with no damage or burn spots on TT.
