Hey, guys. Here's a little something I've been working on for a long time. Inspired, of course, by David Regal's Sudden Deck (and released with his permission). Not hard at all to make up.

You'll probably catch the discrepancy if you watch it a couple of times. But it plays big in the real world. In fact, there's a live performance on the download. I didn't include it in this preview because there's a little flash to the camera in it. But the reactions, as you will see, are huge.

Good stuff here. But I would remove the youtube video because it gives it away. Great thinking, though!

Uh... Well, I can't do that as no one will purchase it unless they see it. I don't think anything is "given away". Because you're not going to be able to make it even if you sort of figure it out from the demo.

You never see the back of the box , sorry to say. Would be a lot better if you could see the back.

I don't agree. In the spectators eyes, they saw all sides of the box.

I am a Mentalist, so I have a more "spectator eyes" that a magician.


For me it looks surprising, convincing and magical.
Obviuosuly this will not be performed using mute theatre, so the script can support the mechanics.

Its funny that normal magicians are so caring about that nonsense facts. Surely the mirror isn't the best participant.

ahaha I totally agree, as a Mentalist too, I think normal magicians over exagerate some things, every single detail.

Mentalists just act normally with eveything, if you act normally, they will never ask themselves if something is hidden or not, everything looks normal, so for them, it's normal.

Of course it depends of presentations skills.

But guys, it's really a magician thinking.

And you'll not do only one trick, this is as a opener, so they are not prepared for this, they don't know anything about what you're going to do, so don't worry.

I received this download, and it's quite clever. I suggest watching the live performance as opposed to the demo, as it is a much better representation of how this is presented for real audiences. It's clever and fun!

Looks nice. Happy to hear that you got permission from David. Sadly it seems this isn't the case for many effects released these days...

Thanks, guys! Actually, you DO see all sides of the box: white inside, printed on the outside. And the spectators believe this. As I stated above, the only reason I don't show the whole demo in the preview is because I flash a tiny bit to the camera. This is why the full performance is only included in the actual download.

This box is very easy to make up. All you need are a few spare boxes, some double stick tape (or glue) and a pair of scissors. Only takes minutes to make it up so you can make up several at a time in different colors if you wish.

Spicoli: Actually, I've discovered that this plot goes back further than David but he certainly popularized it. Stephen Tucker put something similar on a video tape from 80s. The trick is card "The Tardis Deck" and is on his "Genesis" DVD. I think Stephen still sells it on his site. And I'm sure there was someone before Stephen who published or played around with something similar...

Little changes sometimes can make big differences. When I originally released Vivid years ago, the handling was a bit on the cozy. All I did was change one small part of the handling and it made all this difference in the world. Vivid is one of those tricks I keep coming back to. Too much fun to perform. You can really have a lot of fun interacting with the spectators with this one.

I have some of the best customers in the world. Thank you guys for supporting REAL WORLD magic. There's so much stuff released these days that looks awesome on video but terrible in real life. I refuse to release stuff like that.

I know my stuff doesn't have the "flash" of some other magic products, but it's the kind of material that people actually perform for live audiences. You won't find tricks on my website that are best performed "one on one" or "in certain situations with low lighting". You can perform my effects anywhere!

Don't confuse method with effect. We all want cool methods. But think about it from the spectator's POV. Do they care about methods? No! They shouldn't even be aware of the method. They just want stuff that looks and feels amazing to them.

Anyway, thanks for supporting my magic. I love releasing stuff that people actually use... or if they don't use it, inspires them in some way. That's what it's all about. Making connections with other magicians, and entertaining lay people.
