Thank you Prof (and Minty) for the info.
So, I ordered a Shakes & CC at the same time. Are they likely to ship together, or will Shakes come via Dan? |

I believe Dan still has some stock, if so, he might ship it from there--or he might decide it would be better to package them up together from here. I don't mean to sound coy, and apologies for the vague answer, but the truth is I've been knocked a bit sidelong with the demand for Dickens and am struggling to catch up . . . Dan will let me know probably sometime Monday when he posts the latest orders to me how he would like to proceed on this order. Regards, BC

Folks -- do NOT miss out on the Shakespeare. Professor BC called it the Crown Jewel of the series for good reason. It is simply exquisite, with aging even better than GH*ST in my opinion. It has a size, look and feel that is quite different than all the other books (even those planned, I believe) that helps sell your collection as genuinely eclectic. I recently had to sell my original three volumes (really miss that battered little Stevenson) but there was no way I was letting go of my precious Shakespeare, and I am now rebuilding a Dopps set with that and Dickens.
Trust me -- with less than 10 remaining, stop hesitating; it is time to get your Shakes on!! Seth |

I agree with you Seth, Shakespeare is breathtaking & have had the most comments on it more than the other Dopp's ! I am SOooo glad I ordered mine, love just sitting down & reading it as a book. A definite crown jewel of the series so far !!

WOO - HOO , I just received my # 21 Dicken's Dopp's !!!!!!!!!!!!!! yes it is the same size as Jekyll & Hyde book, just not as aged / old looking. The covers have the look that it's been around but kept well for it's "age".
The cover material feels nice in hand & interestingly unique, inside pages have a nice patina & outer page aging. Having a little pre Thanksgiving get together this Sat, so time to break out a Christmas Carol & a few extra Dopp's for a test run |

Hi there, hope you don't mind me asking, but I'm looking for new book test that would play well from the stage to audiences of 100 or more. I like the look of MOABT 2 and of course Dopp's. Do any of you chaps own both effects? Will Dopp's only really be suitable for more bizarre or parlour type shows? Sorry for what may be a daft question, but I've never performed a book test on stage before. I do own CV but use that more for 1 on 1 situations. Thanks!

Okay, Randy Scott, the Doppelganger delivery hex you slapped on me has been broken! #11 has arrived in Queens and it looks fantastic!
I like the size too. Easy to carry around for one-book effects between now and Christmas. |

I am curling up in front of the fire with a dram of single malt scotch. It’s been 40 years since I read "A Christmas Carol". I recently found a first edition in remarkably good condition for its age. Such pleasures are hard to put into words.

Received my lovely #40 a day earlier than expected, so drooling was minimal,..until I sat down to ponder, caress and begin reading.
Thanks to that "antiquarian bookseller" from the UK, "ex libris, D. H. Aynes"....as signed beneath the aged, reddish-inked Victorian slightly worn Santa and wreath bookplate image stamped on the first blank page! (well, that's my story, anyway).

Just curious - and it might be helpful for our spooky brothers who are on the fence about taking the plunge:
What is the Christmas Dopps count at? I know 40 went out originally and then a new round from over seas. I had a strong feeling this would be sold out in a week... ! |

I think the count might be 83 or 84 of the (final count) 107 copies available. That leaves, what, 23 or 24 remaining as of this writing (but I also haven't received the latest orders from Dan for the first half of this week, so that number may well already be wrong). Thanks for asking, BC

Flocking Crumbly almost sounds like the name of a Dickens character. Both are, indeed, the correct terms.
The books come back to me from the bindery with very normal red hardback covers, and I developed the technique to turn them into that Victorian velvet/flocked look and feel and am quite chuffed at how well it worked. Glad you approve. BC

Hello everyone, I've decided to play and get off the sidelines. I have one book so far and a fair amount of other spooky items which I have been using over the last few years, Gh0st and Phat0ms to name a couple from this group. I made the transition a few years ago from "magic tricks" to bizarre story telling, its more meaningful to me. I've been doing magic for longer than I care to admit.
Question Prof BC, are there any editions in the set so far, or planned for the future, that are must have books? I may not buy them all. Looking forward to Grimms and Opera. Nice work BTW, quality is a limited art form. |
