Don't yell at me for asking about such a classic in magic...but...i read the general description of what an egg bag is on certain sites, and I just want people's recommendations for an egg bag. is the malini one the best? and also is it really that great of a trick. dennymagic recommended it highly.

David,
There's alot of magical entertainment in that little bag. Start out by reading the egg bag section in tarbell. There is also a book dedicated to the various types of bags, routines, etc. It's appropriately called, "The Egg Bag Book". There's a start. Ted (Leondo) |

It's one of my favorite effects to present.

Well it depends howyou present it
there is what I call the quick version where the egg dissapears appears and moves around and then there is the stage version which is done with a larger bag and it moves around the theme of producing a seemingly large supply of eggs from the empty bag some people even finish this by producing a live chicken in the end

And don't forget Ron Bauer's The Siamese Goose-Egg Bag. How he keeps coming up with these wonderful routines is beyond me. I've performed this routine 5 times under fire, and 3 out of 5 times I had somebody ask me after the show where the egg went.

David,
Yes the Malini Egg bag is the best and if you use the Ken Brooke routine is a guaranteed winner. I've been performing it for 30 years. This routine is for adults, not meaning there is anything blue about it. I say this because it sells great to adult audiences. |

Where can the Ken Brooke's routine be found?

Hello jimesw:
You can get the Ken Brooke routine from Denny and Lee at http://www.dennymagic.com. I believe it's only 5 or 6 dollars. Ron |

Be sure to do your research before purchasing an egg bag - most are nearly unusable. I've even found one version of a Malini that is a total joke, although most versions are made in a thoughtful manner.
I use a "Tarbell" bag made by Pauline Tong - handles like a dream. She also makes a Malini. For my Tarbell bag, I use the Martin Lewis routine for the Mardo bag. You can see it on his dealer demo tape or on the Stevens Magic Egg Bag video. |
