Hello Guys,
I need some help/advice/recommendation from you. I am doing comedy magic and I have Bill in Kiwi, Egg Bag, Mongolian Pop Knot, Tossed Out Deck and etc kind of tricks in my act. I am doing Torn and Restored Newspaper as well, but I feel it this is the weakest link in my show and I can't really present it well. I came up with several different presenting pattern and ideas but none works for me. My question is can you recommend me a routine which is as visual as the TnR Newspaper but a different effect? I need something which packs small and plays big (like the above mentioned routines), it can be done with spectator or without. Only thing I don't want is escape routine because I have at the end and mentalism because the Tossed Out Deck covers that part. Key words funny presentation and visual! I don't copy 100% any kind of routines I make several changes and improvements to every trick or routine I perform. Thank you very much for your help! Best,

Dubious domino/ dot's next?
Kind of fits the criteria. My presentation of the T and R newspaper means it's a strong part of the show but I have never come up with a good original presentation for the domino. Maybe it'll be the other way around for you |

Hello magicgeorge,
Thank you very much, I never heard/saw this trick before but I made some investigation and it has very good critics, definitely I will give a shoot. I love the idea of this trick, thank you very much! By the dot you mean Darly's presentation? I mean the audience likes it when I torn the newspaper into several pieces and it will be restored, visually it is a very nice illusion but there is "no reason" of ripping it makes them think immediately it will be restored somehow. Bothers me the fact since I start the presentation they already know the outcome. I haven't tried the NO TORN NEWSPAPER maybe that could be an other option to replace it, that makes more sense and can't be predicted so easy.

I meant the domino/card effect that goes by many names. Bill Abbott has a good version out.
Are you talking about Daryl's whole/hole card? I find that effect rather confusing and not very magical Yes. The newspaper is such a classic effect that a lot of folks will know what is coming. Just as if you take a bunch of rings out most people will know you're going to link them together. Having said that most people haven't actually seen it done in real life so they do enjoy it despite that. I have a reason for ripping the paper plus a twist at the end so it works well for me. |

Yepp, I found the Spots by Michael Ross on Bill Abbott's site, this is what I am looking for! Thank you very much!
