As a common principle of stagecraft, YELLOW numbers/or letters against a BLACK background are easier and more distinct to see on stage than BLACK letters/numbers against a YELLOW or WHITE background. Most well-made Cube a Libre sets will use this stage visibility feature as an intrinsic part of their design standards. And yes, of course, larger is easier to see on-stage.

Obviously, this concept also holds true for other effects when you want maximum visibility on stage, which is one reason I often recommend Norm Nielsen's Dinamo Card design over other, similar "spot-card" effects which use black spots on a white background.
The design is just easier to see. For those who aren't familiar with the prop, here's what Dinamo looks like:

Gimpy's Magic offers a three block version, "Demi Cube a Libre." Having fewer blocks may make it easier to manage the stack of blocks in unusual conditions.

I own two versions of Cube-A-Libre from different designs and find Jay Leslies version to be fool proof.

The construction of the tube, blocks and additional items to make the magic happen is sturdy and stable to perform with no issues or hang ups necessitating shaking of the tube

I also believe that when you learn the movements of the routine and not perform it on a cruise ship, it is just as easy to perform the six block version as it would be to perform the three block version, the six block version has more impact for an adult audience, but the the three block version would be quicker to perform for kids shows
