I was wondering if anyone has ever done these. What I mean is, having much free time, I wanted to do a bit of tounge in cheek dry humor with cards as a quick bit. I was thinking on introducing the cards as the first card impressionnists (sp). Ex. Take the cards out of the box less the Jack of whatever... wait for it... Jack in the Box! Hey, that was stupid. Here's another. Take a Queen of whatever and slowly drag it along the table... A Drag Queen! Hey! That was rude.

Something along those lines when you're at a table that may "get it". Other thoughts... Ace in the hole (card in fly?)

Too much free time,

Tim

I like your idea, never thought of it. It maybe an original idea. The only thing is you must establish yourself as being funny 1st. Otherwise they may think you are dumb.

Are you a close-up magician or comedian. Is there a sign that tell everyone you do funny magic. How do you tell your audience you are funny.

That is the only way it will sell as funny. When you go to a comedy club, you know you are suppose to see a comedian and laugh. Not so, if you walk up cold to a table and start lines that make no sense.

Just my thoughts. But I like what you have, but then again I like Corny humor.

Absolutely groanworthy. Love it.
Could get worse:

Making a cutting motion with jack: Jack-knife
Making the jack stagger around the table: Jack Daniels
Feeding the jack a potato: Jacket (jack ate)
Banging the jack on the table: Jack Hammer

A card starts singing we will rock you; Turn it around it's Queen
Wave a queen around making a buzzing sound: Queen Bee
Pick up another queen; that must be Queen A

Pick up a King and say "you know how you can tell this is a King?"
"No"
"You can see it's throne" then chuck it across the room.
Pick up an ace and throw it after the king: Flying ace
Then throw a large card:it's a jumbo.

Pick up a four of any suit and have it go "to be or not to be": fourplay

I'm going to quit now before someone throws something sharp at me.

Grab a diamond, get down on you knees-- Kneel Diamond.

Put the same card on your forehead -- Diamondhead.

Hold up the Jack of spades or clubs -- Jack Black.

Add an ace-- Blackjack.

SHuffle the deck on your left knee then shuffle it on your right knee. Tell them it's the Disney shuffle...from dis knee to dis knee.

I believe I first heard this from D. Williamson when we were teens... (and I am sure that it was old, THEN!)

Show the "Michigan Shuffle": Riffle the two halves 'almost' together, and say, "whoops, Mich again"

There were more, but why cause any more pain? Smile

These are great guys! Glad to see that I'm not the only cornball here! I used the DragQueen idea and it did get the response I wanted. I like the Kneel Diamond and the Dis Knee shuffle! I would like to try them out if it's ok!

On the subject of humor, I immediately present myself as someone not to be take too seriously right off. I have been approaching tables saying " allow me to apologize first folks..." and wait for the why... "well, it seems as if though our caricature artist didn't show up today and I know how that might upset you." Usually smiles and agreement here. " You're in luck though" as I take my sharpie and cocktail napkin and quickly stick-figure someone at the table. I then show it to the person that I "obviously" drew and take the appropriate credit!

They love this and it gives me the "in" I need to continue the Corn!

Thanks again Guys and keep it up!

Shuffling bits to consider:

Newfounlander shuffle (Canadain province): shuffle deck by shaking the box w/ the cards in it.

Russian shuffle: shuffle quickly

Drunken shuffle: face up/face down

Magician shuffle: restore the drunken shuffle

Religious shuffle: Hindu shuffle

There are others I've heard of, seen or thought of, but this is all that comes to mind.
