Hi master121,
Which is the best ITR is like asking which is the best car (it all depends on who you ask).. Most importantly you'll have to ask yourself: Where will I perform? Which levitation/animation effects do I want to do? What kind of clothes will I wear? and last but not least: How much money would I want to spend on an ITR? The price range on ITR's differs from about 5$ up to 100$. But I'll take a wild guess and assume you want it for Close-Up? I will then recommend you to buy ITR's from Sorcery Manufacturing. They're a little more expensive then some others (average between $40 to $60) but they are very worth it. If you try one of the cheaper ones (like the Indian ITR) you might end up throwing it away and even worse get frustrated with Thread work, we don't want that.. There are some nice reviews of the ITR's they sell on Jaxon's board, he's a great thread worker so try to visit: http://www.jaxonmagic.com/magicboard/ Good luck! -e- Well, there are many but I could recommend the Kevlar Mini Thread Boss(60$) Found at: http://sorcery.safeshopper.com/186/122.htm?990 It's small and reliable, and the Kevlar thread is really stong, and that's important when you start off practicing, because they are a #*+=¤ to repair. I've heard a lot of nice things about the new ITR pen too, but at 100$ it's to expensive for me right now. -e-
...As long as i`m not a world-champion at anything, the great reactions of doin` magic will do just fine.....

Is there one that wouldn't cost me a fortune. I don't plan on spending $60 on an ITR anytime soon.

The Kevlar mini reel might not be the best way to go for a beginner. It is very taught so it is limited in its use. The Boss model is good to clip on your shirt and go. Forget Kevlar unless you need it for a special weight.

If money is the issue, eliminate the need for an ITR...just get a spool of unstripped stuff for 3 1/2 dollars, strip and wrap a length around a playing card. Use the one or two point hookup and you'll get just as big a reaction, believe me.
An ITR is a convenient alternative, but back in my day (BLAAAT! Geezer alarm sounds), ok, ok...sheesh! I'll quit geezing... In the '70's, we didn't have ITR's and IT was new...THATS when you learned to get used to stripping and "running" your own. Ron Jaxon's site is full of great ideas, plus he's very accomodating, and will graciously answer most any question... ITR's? I use it only as a back-up...and then, it's just a rebuilt India-type...I don't depend on it. Practice getting good with various types of IT, elastic, non-elastic, loops, etc...then, later on, if you want to spend $50 on an ITR...that's your decision...IMO, it's a waste of money to start off with... I like the standard ITR Thread Boss from Sorcery. You can typically find it for $20-30 last I looked. I would not recommend the cheap ITR knock offs (usually $10 or so) because they're poorly made and the thread quality is not so good.

I also like the Sorcery's Thread Boss, it is small enough to hide under your collar and the thread is good quality. The only down side is it is hard to fix and you can't get to far away from the anchor.
