I just remember seeing it and going to all the local stores trying to find it. It was a common item when Coupon clipping was all the rage here in America. By the time I seen the video they were nowhere to be found in stores. It is also a very difficult item to search for on the Internet, as it does not have only one name. I guess they went out of style because newspapers are not has popular as they once were for all those ads. Now they a club type system issuing bar code cards. You have to be a listed with the store and have their discount card to get their advertised reduced price. There is no fee to give them your information to receive a discount club card. It is just a pain to have a member card for every store you do business with. |

Yes, L&L converted the Leveridge video tape. Like I said, it was the lecture referred to above.
Tommy Wonder, in the ending of his Ambitious Card routine, used a three-way fold, just as Jon Allen does. |

It has even been discussed openly on Facebook groups. So what are you bringing to the table that justifies marketing it. I ask because I was crucified for RED (and rightly so I might add). However here you are releasing something that has been released before and everything seems to be fine. I'm confused frankly. Craig |

While the concept has been around for quite some time, no one has released a template. Whether you feel that added convenience or apparent advantages are worth your money vs. using a ruler and a knife, that's up to you to decide. But Jon is not claiming this idea as his own, nor is he claiming credit or re-releasing a marketed product. He's just offering a magicians utility. Not sure what all the fuss is about.
Woukd you criticize someone for buying an invisible deck when you can just buy roughing spray? Different means to the same end, right? |

Not quite sure what the agenda is here. Would like to hear more about the product.

This sounds like a great tool at a very reasonable price. It's not a magic trick, where you're selling an idea and everyone needs to panic about accreditation. It's just a tool, like a card jig or a hammer or a circular saw. And the template will be key to cranking these out quickly, so there's a better mousetrap right there.

Actually, I guess we need to understand what the template is. If it's something physical, like a tray, that you put the card in... that's one thing. If it's a guide of images showing you were to make your scores, then I agree with questioning the release.

Tommy Wonder had the idea to score cards. I'm actually in the middle of narrowing it down to a specific year but it was certainly made public early to mid 1990s.
Those who know me already know that if I put out a product for magicians then it will all be something new, worthwhile, all above board and credited as best as possible. There is no reason to question the release. Posted: Dec 5, 2014 08:31 am I spoke with Mark Leveridge today about the DVD. He doesn't have a copy of the lecture so cannot confirm the idea for scoring cards is on it. This lecture was in 1991. Bill, if you know for sure it is on the DVD, I would really like confirmation so I can put it in the booklet. For now, I am putting it down as early to mid-1990s. Thanks, Jon

It's funny when people spend so much time and energy making little pictures and posting on forums to try and have a go and myself and David.
You think it upsets myself or Dave. It just makes us laugh that someone can be so sad and pathetic. It must really hurt you that David has seen more success in his career than you will ever come close to. Keep making your littles pictures mate while Dave and I are busy actually performing. With love Craig. |

Quick to pipe up Craig when the heat isn't on you for a change. Its a shame you didn't reply so quickly when you were 'RED-faced'.

What more is the guy supposed to do? Apparently, crucifixion is not enough for some people. Perhaps they would be satisfied with hari-kiri?

Jon, I just watched the Tommy Wonder British Close-Up Magic Symposium Lecture, originally released by Mark Leveridge on VHS tape and now available on DVD from L&L. The original copyright date is 1998. He shows and talks about a device that he says he is unsure is available in "this country" (England?) and that was originally used to cut out coupons and only cuts through one layer of paper at a time. He talks about it in his explanation of his torn-and-restored card, "Thanks to Paul Harris." He refers to it again in his explanation of "Squeeze," an effect where he pushes a full-size deck into a tiny card box. He does not refer to it in his explanation of his card fold, although, obviously, it can be used there as well.
I'm sure your product is worth the price you're asking. In addition to the device, you also supply a template and written instructions which also include other information such as hiding the cuts, etc. |

Cosmo Solano's effect "Incredibox" comes with the E-Z M.F. Kit (E-Z Mercury Fold Kit) a prepared template that helps you to quickly find the centers as well as guiding the scoring of the card. You supply the cutting tool. Nothing fancy, just a guide made from strong plastic, but it gets the job done.
Guilt will betray you before technique betrays you!

On the other hand, there were some disgusting posts on here directed chiefly towards DP, mentioning kyphosis, amongst other things. There is no excuse for that, and the only reasons other than sheer nastiness would be mental illness or alcoholism/drug addiction.
I'm all for a robust debate, but whoever posted that stuff should take a bloody good look in the mirror. WPR has consistently pimped Jon's products. Who knows the beef? Could just be the stuff we are all aware of, but to be honest, Jon comes across just as badly as the rest of them. Pleased not to do business with the fella. |
