My name is James C. Wallace II. My father and I were founding members of I.B.M Ring 210; The Duke Stern Chapter: Ann Arbor, Michigan, alongside Hank Moorehouse, Denny Loomis, Duke Stern and many others. Now, dad passed away in 1992 and earlier this year, my mom moved to a new home and while going through the basement to pack up stuff, I found 5 large boxes of Linking Rings magazines from the 70's and 80's. There are also a few assorted Genii magazines as well. I haven't the heart to throw them out, but I haven't got the room to keep them. I'm not asking anything for them but the cost of shipping them to a fellow magician or club that would find them of interest. I did try asking Ring 210 about them, but they didn't seem interested. I would ship by Media Mail, so the cost would be fairly low, especially considering the weight. If this offer is of interest to you or your club, please email me at: magicianofoz@hotmail. Thank you.

I hope you found a taker, as the magazines are FULL of useful information, but did you know that ALL Linking Rings are now available in a digital and searchable archive - an amazing resource available as part of your annual subscription - I've been blown away by the amount of material that I have at my digital fingertips!

Aidan, I have been unable to access this on the I-B-M web site, perhaps you know the secret? Smile

I'll check on it for you, Danny. Might be mobday before I can get a reply, though.

In my opinion, the back issues online, being PDFs, are hard to read and navigate. It would be better if they were converted to a more display-friendly format, but that would be quite an undertaking.

Part of my job as TVP and an Executive Committee member, Danny. It is my pleasure.

This is what I recieved from Simone, our tech services specialist:

"I had a problem initially logging in to Ask Alexander, and it turned out that I had a previous account ID with them. I believe the two accounts had to be merged, and this was done by the Ask Alexander people. I have had one member email me at webmaster@magician.org that experienced the same thing. When I tried to log in for him, the same thing occurred. I believe the error message also said to contact the Conjuring Arts Center, where there issue was resolved.

Some years ago at Magic Live, trial subscriptions were given out for Ask Alexander. Later on Genii Magazine offered access also. Many people ended up with ID’s and logins. I think that if they try to use their same email address to create a new account, that is where the problem occurs."

If that doesn't solve your issue, Danny, PM your IBM number to me and Sammy Smith he would look into your case specifically. Everyone else having issues, please do the same and we will try to resolve this for you.

Magie, the PDF copies are the property of AskAlexander. We simply have an IBM membership to their files.

I have found the PDF's to be fine to navigate and read - you can change the zoom to suit whatever screen you've got. I think it's a fantastic resource, and one I'm trying to remind people here in the UK about - it's a great reason to belong to the IBM (especially relevent in the UK where not all Ring 25 members are actually members of the IBM itself)
