Inquiries from consumer markets such as kids parties and libraries approach and seek services mostly based on the way they approach typical consumer services, whereas professional markets search, shop, secure and approach our services completely differently. So there are really two different mentalities, psychologies, processes and how they shop. Consumer markets are where services that typical consumers purchase using typical consumer mentalities - libraries, kids birthdays and parties, family parties, anniversaries, block parties, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, country club parties as you mentioned and some weddings (can actually be both markets). Professional markets are corporate, cruise ships, fairs, festivals, municipal events, associations, schools, colleges, trade shows, theaters, etc. These markets approach, research, shop and secure services entirely different and elements exist within these markets that do not in consumer markets (contracts, riders, invoicing, billing, insurance, specs, production, pre-production, bids and submissions, HR, accounting, boards, etc.) So yes, the differences entail the way it is approached, presented, marketed, sold, executed and perceived (among other things). There are professional associations involved in most professional markets, and boards and committees, as opposed to dealing with a single consumer. The back-end is much more possible and prominent in these professional markets, and of course pricing is also much different as well. Really the whole mentality and processes are different. And yes, expectations are greatly different as well. I think having a predetermined way to deal with such inquiries should be the same regardless of whether professional or consumer markets. I could see there being some differences because of the way they approach and perceive things. |
