I prefer to keep it classy and hold a deck like a normal person even your non-magicians hold a deck in mechanics grip and aren't aware but does that mean they don't understand that it natural to do so & when you stArt changing how you do things it adds more work for you and less interest by your spectstor by their decision that its all fake and crafted by a person and not magic. |

Can it be that as long as you are the camera man or you are standing exactly at his spot, it will look incredible. I wonder what it will look like if you want to perform it for a group of people who are surrounding you. I perform usually for more than one person, so I could see problems here. But I can be wrong!

In Shin's hands, this thing looks incredible. He made 2 of these in my dining room to use one for his AT THE TABLE Lecture. While not 100% angle proof, this is still a great way to open up your set.

Hello people,
Time to clear a couple of things up. First and foremost, I want to acknowledge my good friend Nicholas Lawrences' effect "unboxing" that is coming out. It is an independant creation of his and neither he nor I had any knowledge of each others effect before release. You should check it out, compare the two, because both are awesome in their own right, and actually the construction of our gimmicks are different. It's just that the outcome looks identical. Now I've been performing Gone Deck in my live shows(the only recorded performance is my live Lecture At the Table with Murphy's), and a lot of people here have been pointing out the fact that me holding the box horizontally as opposed to mechanics grip is aesthetically unnatural. I also believe that grip is slightly unnatural, but not completely ludicrous. However, without going into too much detail without revealing the construction: during my creation of gone deck my friend Tom Elderfield helped me out with some of the ideas. He showed me instead of showing the box from the side, do it from the front(Similar, if not exact, to Nicholas' Unboxing). And the ONLY reason why I chose not to perform it the way Tom suggested was because the angles arent as good when holding the deck in mechanics as opposed to horizontally. I chose practicality over aesthetics. I've been performing Gone Deck horizontally for 2 years and nobody has come up to me(both magicians or laypeople), saying "why did you close your act with such a strange non-magiciany-professional grip". So to be honest, I'm not worried about the so called "awkward" grip. Though I would like to explain why the angles are better for the horizontal grip(Gone Deck Version), that would go into too much detail, and would reveal the gimmick. Since you guys haven't seen the full trailer yet, I'll enlighten you a little bit extra on whats gonna be taught. Firstly, Tom Elderfield(He was with me during the genesis of Gone Deck) is in it. And he explains his version of Gone Deck, which is the front version, where you are able to hold the deck of cards in mechanics grip.//watch it at 1:27 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rEWha0BWFKg , you'll see a shot of Tom's version // So for those of you who say they don't like my version of it, will have an option to make Gone Deck doable in mechanics grip by watching Toms section on the Gone Deck DVD. I chose to include Toms variation because I wanted to give people options. However, this was all shot and filmed before I even knew of my friend Nicholas' DVD. Now that Unboxing was released, this changes things. Because Nicholas is a good friend of mine, and out of respect for another artist, I am debating on removing Tom's part from the DVD. Which is a very tough decision, since Tom is also a dear friend of mine, and he and I did independently create both versions of Gone Deck. Tom has spent many months trying to improve the original Gone Deck principle, so it would break both my heart and his to see all his cool ideas go to waste(and time filming and editing). I am still contemplating this decision as I write this note, and will be talking to both Nicholas and Tom about this. The DVD's still havent been authored, so I can choose to delete Toms part out before time for release. I guess my point of this is to not only let you know what was planned to be released in Gone Deck, but to also give credit to Tom Elderfield who helped me in the different variations of this project. I will keep everyone updated, and the final trailer will show whether or not I have decided to include Toms variation(the mechanics grip one) in the DVD. Best, Shin |

Given the previous hype/disappointment cycle associated with this creator, who's brave enough to take one for the team and order it?

This looks pretty angly and also very clean when done right. Toms version looks a bit safer but I think it looks a bit more reserved. I like the idea of showing more surface area. Knowing what I know about shins love for that special stuff he used in his shenanigans video. It makes me wonder how long this one will last before beginning to fail. If its a make your own gimmick.. Then I dunno if I'd get this. Its one of those things where I thought of this before but never had the gumption to actually put it together. And if I have to make it anyway. Why buy the product? Maybe my pocketbook will remind me "well now you better make it"

Hey guys, angle, not at all! We have developed a way you can very openly show all sides of the box, them change it, then all sides again. So no need to worry about angles, they are very good! The gimmick will also come pre made but we will teach how to made your own for other variations on the download.
WARNING! The gimmick isn't hard to make once you watch the download and are taught how to make it, HOWEVER, there is one variation that is a little more advanced in gimmick making, but please don't worry, I go step by step on how to construct this, and I feel if you watch me and go slow, you shouldn't have any troubles. As for a release date, we are not 100% but I'm pushing he team to get this out before the end of March (hopefully sooner) I have no doubt you will all love this guys, it's easy, practical, and I'm sure everyone who gets it WILL use it! |

Hi guys
I've been receiving a ton of questions about my upcoming effect Gone Deck(By myself and Tom Eldefield) We want you guys to get this as soon as possible but sorry there have been a few small delays. We are hoping to get this out in a few months, possibly late March or Early April Best, Shin Lim |

It is really unfortunate that the product and timing is so similar to another. But the variations in the trailers so far make me think the results will speak (highly) for themselves. I rarely have practical use for Shin's effects since my focus is heavily biased towards the mentalism side of things. But I love seeing the effects he comes up with and have experimenting with a few of his ideas before. And probably this time, too.
