Giving ownership of any gesture to Hitler is wrong on so many levels. He doesn't own the swastika either. The swastika is a sacred symbol of Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism, that goes back thousands of years. It is only the Western World that is obsessed with giving Hitler so much credit and ownership of things like symbols and hand gestures. KJ |

Clearly, some people's general knowledge on here is about as good as their magical knowledge. Then again, with so many things (particularly within magic) being stolen from the classics, should I really be surprised? P.S. Frohe Weihnachten und ein gutes neues Jahr!

If you are troubled by that you must lead a very troubling life.

Here's David Penn in the early seventies, when he was the bass player for "The Sweet"
He goose steps on at about 1.05 No smoke without fire. Happy Christmas.
What do we want?

Merc Man wants us to believe that David Penn was copying a gesture from "French Neoclassic Art in the 1700s". Right, that's what he was doing (and ending his post with a German greeting was a charming touch).
Amazing how edgy and defensive of a possible Nazi gesture people are getting about this. Maybe he was, maybe he wasn't: although my question was aimed at him, he has decided not to deny it. Sirbrad's contribution has been name-calling/trolling, with the implication that there's nothing wrong with Nazi salutes. Incredible. |

As for the German greeting - purely satire old chap; something that people outside of the UK never seem to quite get. And just for the record, being a lifelong Socialist, I would never condone nor support fascism in any way whatsoever. As for Dave not replying - there is of course the slim possibility that he is otherwise engaged enjoying the Christmas Holiday; and reading The Magic Café is possibly not at the top of his agenda?

I did not name-call or troll at all, you are making up lies now. I said you must lead a troubled life if you are troubled by a hand gesture, which you made to be more than it was in your own mind. I bet you hate getting flipped off too which probably happens a lot. I don't give a crap about the Nazi sign nor what is posted on the internet in general. You go ahead and keep sucking up all that needless worry. Also Dave did not do that sign anyway, that is your perception. Unless he was mocking it. This is not 1920-1940 so get over it.

Nah, I am pretty sure Dave walks around all day and night watching for replies on the Café. He just likes to create the "illuson" that he actulaly has a life.

Thank you KJ!
I'm blind in my right eye. Now I have an infection in my GOOD eye! I can barely see. Forgive me for any spelling errors. Yes, I am quite content alone. No drama. No family fights. Quiet and peaceful. This is the perfect time to enjoy my medical MJ! Doug |
