Hello all,

A couple of months ago, I purchased a topit. It is one of the topits in the shape of a crescent; the standard topit. Lately, I saw that there are many different topit designs: is my topit worse than any others, or do they all function the same?

Thanks,

Axel Zander

There are different styles of topit, but the concept is the same. As for better or worse, it all depends on how you develop your accuracy with the one that you have.

If it is the "pin in" kind, and you take it out to have the jacket cleaned, then you would need to find the sweet spot again, or you might find your aim is off.

I have had a couple of Ammar Open topits placed in two of my jackets by a tailor. I truly like the design. The topit is in a consistent location and I have nothing to blame but my accuracy, and the increase in my waistline, when I miss.

Keep practicing.

You might check out Jay Scott Berry's design, which minimizes the chance of "missing," but requires installing Velcro on the jacket as well as the shirt.

Does anybody have or know about the Carl Cloutier topit pattern? I was wondering what the differences are between Ammar's and Cloutier's. Also, does anybody know where I can purchase Cloutier's pattern from?

Thanks

I watched Jay Scott Berrys Penguin live seminar and I really like the fact that the way his topit is installed makes it almost impossible to miss. So now I have arranged with him to send my jacket to him and he will have somebody sew in the topit. Can't wait to receive my jacket back...
