My point is, has anyone ever used magic at bars, restaurants, stores, work, etc. to meet members of the opposite sex and get their number?
What magic works, what magic doesn't?

The best trick is to be yourself. If they like *you* the rest will follow.

The ones who might fake interest in your "tricks" may be doing so only to have you wind up being one of theirs.

That's not to say magic won't work, but you run the risk of being taken as a jerk who only wants to harvest their number as some sort of "trophy."

Again, be yourself. Any magic you do should be complimentary to them, and show them that you're someone worth being with longer than the drink they're expecting you to buy them (you did, didn't you?)

Try making a paper rose from a coctail napkin. You don't even have to "float" it.

Card tricks are killer at a bar. (Killer as in, killing any chance of getting the girl) UNLESS, there is a game going and the cards are already in play. Bringing out a deck as a way of introduction just doesn't work.

Eugene Burger has a wonderful booklet titled "Intimate Power" that outlines what has impact and what doesn't. I'm not talking "tricks" but rather how to handle people.

Do whatever you do with style and grace, and the numbers will follow.

First comes the eye contact. Then comes the approach. You can sense their anticipation as something special is about to happen. We usually produce screams and woos. Usually men and women buy me drinks. Not the other way around. Hugs, kisses, applause, and tips feel good.

Like you said, the reward for us is the smile, the "wow", the "you are awesome" . . . and then sometimes people are so shocked and overwhelmed they don't know what to do. We can put them in a vulneable position and we must make sure they walk away feeling better from the experience.

I love employing magic to meet people. It all depends on your purpose. Magicians have no problems getting the numbers of people of the opposite sex, especially when a man uses the mystery of magic to capture the attention of a woman.

We magicians find it easy to make a connection. Then we look for things we like about the person. We have fun and tease our friends and spectators. What a life!

Some of us even get paid for having fun.
