I can't seem to find a small close up pad. I'm looking for something 1/4 inch thick, preferably, and close to 7 inches by 8 inches, maybe smaller. I'm aware I could buy a larger one and cut it down, but I'm looking for something pre-made.
Any resources? Thanks! |

I went looking to go inexpensive but decent quality, I hit up my local Brick and Mortar Shop and got a nice one for $12 - http://www.thecuckoosnest.com/zencart/ze......_id=5124
and a 6" round one for $3.50 (perfect for a packet trick or little table space) the larger one I got is enough to do a small matrix or ribbon spread some cards. But for $15 I have 2 easy to carry pads. I also have an extra large performance pad on my close up stand and 2 pads that came with a set of 9 different color Bicycle Cards and 2 mats that are great quality, just a little too big for my pocket. (they fit nice in my backpack though) I have heard good things about Patrick's pads though.

Check out computer mouse pads at various computer stores (and sometimes at Dollar Stores).

I have a table hopper from Pattrick's mats that I love. Red lava fabric. Gets compliments and is a nice size for restaurant work. I'm planning on getting a black lava that will hide dirt better. You can't beat these for only 10 bucks.
Pattrick has great communication and customer service. I also have one of his large Pro 2 mats in red lava with a carrying case. It looks great when you pull it out at a house party to do close up in people's dining rooms.

Another glowing recommendation for Pattrick from me as well. Any size and shape you'd like. He is great to work with.

Pattricks, all the way. I have three of his mats, two of which are custom made with nice logos.

I am sure you have gotten enough advice on where to find one but I am curious...
why do you want a small one and not a regular sized one?? |

JoshTmagic,
I'm not the OP, but I too am looking for a small one. I intend to use if to be able to perform okito box routines with strolling. Also to make the chop cup a little bit more formal if the situation feels right. A smaller pad could roll up and fit in my pocket (although it will stick out, so I would take it out straight away. But more importantly, it takes up less space on their table, so less stuff would need to be moved. If there is a spare seat that nobody sat at, you wouldn't even need to move the cutlery there. So it depends on your performing situation as to what size is appropriate. I also rarely perform cards, so don't need a full size for spreading decks. |

Here's something you can use that's on sale and very inexpensive 9.5" x 8 x 1/4" thick
Not sure if it's what you're looking for but the price is low enough to order several if they'll work for you. |

Ryan Edwards also makes incredible pads, his site is www.rehandcrafted.com and he will make custom sizes.

Many years ago, Mark Leveridge sold a table hoppers close-up pad, about the size that interests you. This fit easily in a side pocket of a sport coat.
