There are positives and negatives to the review and he explained what you can, and can't do with it. Whether he's compared it to his own effect or someone else's, I don't see what the issue is in my opinion. Maybe you can buy it and we can look forward to your totally impartial review. |

I don't have the spare cash to be a guinea pig unfortunately. If this is the effect Gregory Wilson did last year on Wizard Wars (and it sounds like it is) it's a killer but maybe out of my skill level. |

Fair point. I think having a knowledge of the Rubiks cube is an advantage but not necessary. If you can solve one from a total mix up, that's like magic to me anyway!

Also, Its not the effect that grew Wilson did on wizard wars. |

Bummer, was hoping it was. That was a great trick.
I'm not implying btw that you didn't give an honest or fair review. You did. But I'd also like to hear from someone who hasn't a background with the cube and how they liked it compared with your experience. I have no rubies cube effects but would like to add one. I'll certsinky check out yours when it's released as well. |

Okay, I am currently trying to decide between two rubik's cube routines to add to my act. I would love to know how "Collaboration Cube" compares to "Rubik's Nightmare" by Michael Lam. Did I understand it correctly in hearing that the Collaboration Cube effect comes with a gimmicked cube? Can someone elaborate?
Thanks, Thaddis |

According to Penguin it comes with one gimmicked and one ungimmicked cube, but I believe someone earlier said it only came with a gimmicked cube.

I don't want give away too much because of exposure. But it comes with one normal cube. The second gimmick is an item that looks exactly like a cube... But it's not a standard Rubik's Cube. This second item will not turn like a cube but looks exactly like one.

So a Rubik's cube will suddenly and magically match the very box it came in?
Similar to finding the exact same number of crunch berries inside as pictured outside on the box of Captain Crunch? |

Hi,
I’ve been performing insta-cube in my presentations and I’m also familiar with Ben Cardall’s Roobik booklet. I’m trying to compose a routine with cubes and I’m looking for ideas that don’t rely heavily on sleights (switches and sort of stuff). I searched the forum but couldn’t decide what effect would suit me best. Can anyone with deeper experience on cube magic recommend some older road tested cube effects that are worth further exploration? Cheers, Valdocyk |

I don't have this product but I do have The Cube, Rubik's Nightmare/Daydream, Rubik Predicated and Rubik Remembered. In my opinion the blindfolded solve is my biggest crowd pleaser, especially because I use John Archer's blindfold where you tape coins to your eyes, a lot of laughter from trying to get the blindfold off with your eyebrows in tact. But the best DVD I have is The Cube by Takamitsu Usui. For only £20 or so you get 4 or 5 effects and an education in how to work with the cube (but it doesn't teach you how to solve the cube from scratch so if you go wrong while practising then you're in trouble!). My favourite is showing 2 cubes in a paper bag, one scrambled and one solved, you ask the spectator which one they want then give it to them and crush the bag and show them the other cube has moved to your jacket pocket. You also get a scrambled matching effect where they scramble a cube and it matches one you had already prepared, similar to Rubik's Daydream but with different sleight of hand and it's arguably easier to perform but less open (I don't want to give too much away for the handling of either). But with Daydream you get the kicker of the Nightmare solve so it depends what you want to achieve. Although the cube also has a kicker where you end up with all the cubes solved but it's less flashy.
I'm not going to bother with Collaboration Cube because I doubt it will give me anything I don't already do and I'm not interested in gimmicked cubes because they can't be examined and the whole point of the cube is that people want to play with them. Instead I'm going to buy the Rubik's Rod next because it takes up less pocket space and looks quite fun. Don't forget there's also the Rubik's card trick you can add to a Rubik's themed act. And remember kids love the Rubik's cube even if you're just straight forward solving it regardless of tricks and blindfolds. Most people I meet are fascinated by the Rubik's cube, they can't help but pick it up and play, it's far more interesting and interactive than a deck of cards! Lastly, I would strongly advise against doing any Rubik's cube tricks if you can't solve it (preferably in under 2 mins) because the audience will at some point want to legitimately scramble it and ask you how quick you can solve it and if you say "Er, I don't actually know how to solve it." then you're going to loose a lot of credibility. |

Just when you thought that you've seen it all, Collaboration Cube gives a refreshing take to the Rubik's Cube... Even without the gimmick, the handling could even baffle the muggles. However, the routine has interestingly injected some humour and some sort of audience engagement, albeit it's just "counting down".
As a matter of fact this nifty little trick got me to seriously solve the Cube. Haha~ Best for stage or parlour, but I won't rule out close-ups with good audience management. Just my two-cents worth |
