In 2010 the FCC banned the use of wireless microphones in the 700mhz block and we all bought new mics. Now it looks like they are going after the 600mhz block.

Interesting. If it passes, that'll mean more illegal wireless gear posted for sale on craigslist.
Thanks for the heads-up.

Looks like I lucked out for a second time as my system is not in the 600mhz block. I like what Sennheiser is trying to do.

I've just gone digital on the 2.4 GHz band. The new Shure GLX-D system is awesome - really priced well, and a rechargeable battery which lasts up to 18 hours

Gary,
Which system are you using? You mean the mic has the rechargeable battery?

- Thanks!

Yes, with the new shure digital system, the handheld beta 58 mic contains a removeable, rechargeable battery which can last up to 18 hours. If you buy an extra battery, there is a hole in the front of the receiver, where your spare can sit safely and it also charges it while the unit is on. You also get an hours and minutes remaining display on the front of the receiver to tell you how much battery time remains. It's a truly fantastic system. The only down side against it, compared to the Sennheiser, it that the body of the mic is a plastic construction so it doesn't feel as solid as the metal bodied Senny, however, it's less than half the weight, so it's barely noticeable hanging off a gim crack or similar clip.

I also have the GLX-D, and love it. I have not got interference one time, even outdoors. Also, I think the rechargeable battery will pay for the system because I don't have to constantly buy batteries.
