Okay, I am certain that there are million threads about this already (I am a little late to the party), but in the name of all that is holy, bring Craig back! I am still a fan of the show, but the chemistry that was once there between Craig and David is gone. I miss his rants, the way he is the only person left on the planet who still cares about coin magic and his arguments with David. In short, bring Craig back!

I like Craig too. I understand it is no longer convenient for him. He was doing it for nothing anyway. Still...we miss him. He will be back. I'm looking forward to it.

Hers is all the problems with requests like this. I read an insult to the guy that is being requested to return. Saying that you love his "rants" is an insult to the person, in my opinion. What is being said by such statements, is the you want to harass and insult the guy more, and you miss making fun of his "excitement", and see it as ranting like a crazy person.
I never considered Ctaig Petty comments as "rants" but true feelings of excitement to have the knowledge of something new that he and I seen as truly "fantastic and good" information and happy to have been able to obtain it, and learn it. As Craig seen the potential of the material he found. Only people that perform and look for unique new ideas and material can see this in a trick or product, and when you do, it causes you to be excited. The say that excitement is contagious, but on the Internet, it seem is time for people to insult and belittle the excited person for showing his true feelings. I don't understand this off and sick dark side of people on the Internet. You have no one to blame but yourselves, you drove him away, by tearing him down in a public forum. Craig did attempt to return and all I read on this forum is, come on Craig, "rant for us" so we can put you done and make fun of him. So he attempted to try showing live performances of tricks with real people at his gigs. Then everyone tore him down for putting a box in his pocket. How lame is that. Everything that boiled down to everyone want to just make fun of anything he tries to do, FOR YOU! And what does he get in return, more insults. Really! Why not start making fun of David Penn, then maybe they will discontinue the review show all together. It seems nothing they do seems to satisfy anyone on the Café. The show is a review show of magic tricks, not a show for making fun of the reviewers. I am sure Craig Petty will never be back. You all drove him away. You all have no one to blame but yourselves with your nasty, insulting comments just because one man sees things in a product that you have no clue as to what he is talking about. Shame on you all! |

Bill,
I think you may be getting a little heated up over what looks to me like a sincere expression of missing that which Craig brought to the Wizard Product Review. Perhaps you've seen insulting posts toward Craig petty written by equivoque that I haven't, but if not you are making a fairly big assumption in tarring him/her with the same brush as those who have posted such messages. Saying you enjoy someone's rants is not the same as saying you like to make fun of them. Indeed rants are most enjoyable when you agree with the point being made (that's why I like Lewis Black). It's perfectly fine to despair at people wildly throwing insults around on the internet, I agree with you there - it's awful, but attacking innocent parties seems a pretty silly way to address the problem. (for what it's worth I think Sean is doing a great job) John |

Thanks for your thoughts John, maybe it is the differences of countries, but in the U.S. use such a comment is an insult. Ranting at police and people can get you in jail or even shot by the police, depending on the situation and how the authorities view your behavior. So it just may be a the difference in definition.
I like Sean as well, he looks like a very nice person, and knows his magic. By the way, my previous comments were not heated in any way, I was trying to be very civil and logical in my view. My point was, one does not request with good intention, and then say, they miss their rants. This implies they are acting like a fool, and they want more foolish behavior. Again, how the word is defined here in the U.S. |

That makes sense, Bill.
Over here we might say, "Do you mind if I have a bit of a rant?", when you are about to give an impassioned answer. The meaning here used to be as you define it in the US, and therefore was certainly pejorative. It can still be so, but generally the implication is friendly. |

A man 'went around the bend' in his home, after hours he finally came out with the gun to his head. He did not put the gun down, so it was reported they shot him. I guess I just should have said that the word "ranting" is an insult word here in the U.S., you are calling someone crazy and unstable. |

And my experience of US police, which has never featured criminal behaviour on my part, has been that they are, almost uniformly, bloody rude and extremely aggressive. Still a fab country, but the police are not very nice. I'm sure they are mainly brilliant people, but they come across very badly indeed. |

Oh that's great to hear guys.
Really pleased to learn that the stories in the news last year, of predominantly black, un-armed guys getting taken out for no reason, was just all pure fabrication.

Craig is too busy now and has to travel 3 hours round trip I believe to the new location so that is why he is not back. But he said he will still do it occasionally. I also prefer Craig as Sean seems to be way too hyper and has major ADD and gets annoying.

Suffice it to say that certain sections of the US reacted extremely badly to the recent film version of 'Twelve Years a Slave'. They weren't weeping for the humanity, they were claiming more of a 'Gone With the Wind' narrative. You know the the kind of thing: "Yessur, whup me again! I bin bad, masser!" or "Oh, you so purty, missy, lemme frill yo' plaits." That sort of thing. Good policing in any country, however, goes beyond race, gender or religion: it should never pull up sharp due to any of those issues. It's an extremely tough job, no doubt. |

Umm yeah Craig did "rant" and David Penn even called it that, stop making it such a big deal and overblowing it. A rant is simply an "annoyed viewpoint" nothing more or less. They were funny and Craig's opinion, if you are that uptight about a word get outside and get some air you need it. Also don't speak for the rest of us in the U.S. and assume we all think such silliness. I did not like when they sped up his rants though as I actually wanted to hear them, so always thought that was stupid. But as I said before I still watch the show for the material but it is not the WPR without Craig and Dave.

Is this the same Craig Petty?
The podcast instructs families on how to save money. It is run by a children entertainment company in the UK. There is no mention of magic.

Yeah that is entirely different that is not a product review show, more like audio advertising/marketing to potential clients.

Hey guys.
I run a children's entertainment company and that podcast is designed to provide a service for existing customers etc and nothing to do with magic. I do miss the WPR but don't regret leaving. I'm sure I will be back for a show or two but at the moment I'm happy. Having said that Russ and I have something planned soon that is to do with magic. Nothing to do with products or reviews or anything like that bite something very different to do with the Slightly Unusual brand. If we can pull it off it will be unlike anything anyone has see before. We shall see!!! |
