Is there a shell coin available that locks on the original coin and then needs a magnet / bang ring to dislodge. So that the locked coin can be give you spectator?

I think there is a locking sam but I'm sure you knew that. You couldn't hand that out tho. You might have to invent one and make thousands of dollars off of it.

A magnetic Scotch and Soda works like that.
There are others as well. Generally speaking both the coin and shell need to work together, typically the shell is shimmed and the coin is magnetic, but I know of at least one fairly popular gaff that works the other way. The down side to a magnetic set is that while the insert won't drop out, typically it can still be rotated inside the shell. The up side is you don't need to disappear to reset/un-nest. In fact there are handlings where that ability is used in the course of the routine. |

I didn't suggest that because I thought he was looking for a locking expanded shell. Do they make locking expanded shells that you would hand out? I know roy has some magnetic nests but you probably wouldn't hand those out. Im not big on handing out coins. They usually don't ask so I never offer. |

The gimmick I need must be:
1. Locking (Magnetic or not is not relevant since the routine needs only tossing or casual examination of the coin(s)) 2. Same coin + coin shell. So a half dollar and half dollar shell. Scotch and soda coins are different. Is there any gimmick like this? |

Ambivalence by Xavier Belmont... if spectators don't look too attentively, it can take the illusion...

Ambivalence can be made with what you described or with a copper showing as well. I would feel comfortable handing it out to anyone without fear of being noticed.

Have you tried a shimmed xepanded shell and a magnetic coin. if all you need is a shell/coin combo that can safly tossed hand to hand and the spec does not hold and examine. This is actually the inside two coins of a TT.

Triception does exactly that. Mark Mason / Bob Swadling - http://www.jbtvusa.com/latest-j-b-produc......-628.php
Scroll down to the description and it tells you exactly what you get. it comes in us quarters, kennedy half (linked) Walker half and Morgan. I have it in Walker and Quarter. they casually toss perfectly, can be shown up close but I still wouldnt trust it "shelled in their hands" (or anything other than a Scotch and Soda for that matter) but I think this will do most of what you want.
