Hi to you all. My name is Steve and I am writing this on behalf of my son as well as myself. I am 40 and always been a great lover of magic but never really materialized into little more than a few tricks. My son Jack on the other hand...aka 'tinymo' has grasped Magic with both hands. My son is 6 years old and is on the autism spectrum. After seeing an illusionists show at a local theme park aged 5 my son became really passionate about magic. After purchasing a few Marvins magic sets we have now advanced to more in depth expensive tricks that require advanced techniques and more practice at sleights. Unlike most children of his age he prefers to cosy up in the evening with YouTube tutorials of card Magic than toy story 3. He idolizes 'missmag822'. For Xmas most children want a play station or DS but jack got a Harbins folding table which cost me £170. Jack has shown local magicians his Magic and even performed for Paul Daniels' after a watching his show at a local theatre. People and experience magicians alike are amazed at his handling skills. We perform in streets and often randomly approach people as Jacks talent looks even more amazing due to his age and we leave people with smiling faces of disbelief. Jack can perform sleights, double lifts pinky breaks, slip force ascanio spreads and many other techniques, half of which I can't remember. His ever growing routine has lots of his tricks with added gimmicks such as martini rising deck, David stones 'tool' brainwave decks, stripper decks, coin and rubber band tricks and many more. I have brought him Mark Wilsons complete book of Magic and JK mystery box ($79.95 from USA) for his birthday. Thanks for reading. We have recently started raising money for autism awareness too.

Welcome magicjack2008,
At some point we will be seeing Jack on video. I look forward to it. I hope you've gotten the Magic bug as well. It is great fun. We've recently had another Father of a 10 year old with Asberger's join. I'm sure he will find your story inspiring (as I do). I'm including a link to the other Dad's post. I'm thinking you might have something in common (I have no idea how these things overlap but a child's ability to sustain interest is unusual. (I know it is a symptom but it is also a gift) http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......576524#0 Best luck to you and Jack, he sounds like a rising star. -Mary Mowder |

Hello magicjack2008,
It is very inspiring to know that your 6 years old boy performed magic in many public situations. I am getting my motivation for public performance |

Hi there. Thanks for your kind replies. Here is one of jacks videos we made today. It needs a little practice but he would only let me record once.

Other than the flash at 1:22 excellent work. (I know I sound critical of what is clearly an AMAZING performance by a young 7 year old but this is how we learn.)
I like that he is using Poker size cards. I know it is a hugh stretch for him but he will grow into them and won't have to re-work all his effects as he would if he used bridge size and later converted to poker. Good job Jack! (And supportive Mom and Dad!) -Mary Mowder |
