Does anyone have any idea what one of these would be worth? It's in good condition with the dust jacket. I'm just curious.

I'd imagine it would depend who you asked. Ask a specialist magic dealer, and the quote may differ and be higher, or indeeed lower, than one you would recieve from a regular book dealer. I'm by no means an expert in the field, but that's just what makes sense in my head.

Although a collector might well be interested in a first edition for its artifact value, I think the presence of this book in a very inexpensive Dover edition probably reduces its value significantly for the average magic book purchaser.

A first edition went on eBay for $32 the other day.

Please excuse my naive question.
Is First Edition the same as First Impression? 'Cos I bought my ECT many decades ago, and I see that it's a Third Impression (First Impression was 1954, Third was 1966). Thanks, Dave

To me, a Third Impression would be the third printing run of an edition. If there was no editing changes, it could possibly be the third "printing" of the first "edition." If there were editorial changes, then the designation would possibly change from "First Edition" to "Second Edition" regardless of the number of printing runs.

Thanks Mage, that's what I'd assumed. But I didn't know for sure.
