Those are very valid points! It's just personal choice. I like Apple. If you don't, great! We all have our reasons for what we choose. If you want a signed, bent coin trick, this is not for you.
If you don't need the coin signed, its worth a look. James Quote: On Feb 6, 2015, davidpaul$ wrote:

I do think the title should be "Cleanest Coin Bend Known To "a" Man"
Steven could save himself some grief. Unless..he did it on purpose. James

That is subject to each one of us, but who cares what it is called. Fact is, it is very easy to do and is as effective as any other coin bend. I own QB and Coinvexed as well as Qi Coin by Chris Taylor(If you are not familiar with this, I highly recommend it). All require you to carry "stuff" and execute moves to be able to use this "stuff". This is simple and direct. And as others have mentioned, the coin cannot be signed, but why would you need to, you just borrowed it! Signing is also a magician thing, not a lay person issue. Bottom line, it is something I will use. Baldini Thanks for your review James and Baldini. Steven |

When I bend quarters, I always have it signed and then bend the quarter right in front of their eyes. Patter/routining/story aside, the most obvious answer to the question of how did that quarter bend is that it was switched and unless that coin is signed the first most obvious answer is the correct one.
All someone has to say or think is, "Nice but you just switched the coin" and there is nothing to say and no where to go. A signed coin proves it was the same flat coin originally inked by the spectator, that no switch is involved and that THAT COIN was really just bent. IMHO, YMMV... All that said, the video looks really good and sells the bend nicely.

Just my two cents (pun realized after I wrote it). Respect to all those with more knowledge and experience than me, whose opinions differ. The creative process belongs to all of us.
Twenty years ago seeing a bent coin demonstration was unusual. To have a coin signed almost planted the suggestion that it might not be the same original coin. So why overprove? Today you can see bent coin demonstrations on You Tube, talk shows, parties, junior high playgrounds, show and tell and the hired magician at the Sweet Sixteen party. Some are signed coins, some are not. In other words, the odds of several people in your group, thinking it is a trick is pretty high. What’s the obvious explanation….not the same coin, duh! But put initials on the coin and their brain slams into a brick wall and goes into an instant ice cream freeze. A signed coin is not overproving anymore. You are heading them off at the pass, because many already know you can’t really bend coins with your mind. Good routining and presentation can amaze, entertain and fool many, but not everyone anymore. I enjoy an occasional non signed bent coin quickie, so I am not a purist. But I do think the signed coin is not only an upgrade in presentation, but carries more impact. And if you don’t want to use the “so we know it is the same coin” ploy, make up a different ploy that fits your routine. Simply seeing your name on the coin has more psychological impact than a plain bent coin. It is the same type of heightened reaction as having any type of magic done in the specs hand. It's their connection to the outcome The power comes in the psychological connection that it is THEIR coin. They signed it. The connection is stronger. It’s their name. It’s personal. It’s like reading your name in the newspaper as a witness to an event. If the paper lists your name, it is way stronger than if they identified you as an unknown bystander. When you hear your name across a crowded room, something different happens in your hind brain than if they shouted, “Hi there”. The same psychological connection happens with your initials on the coin rather than it just coming from the spare change in your pocket. Seeing your name on something creates a different neurological connection. Not to derail the thread...I bought this and it is a convincing coin bend. You may have a bit of a challenge if you have smaller hands and thin fingers, but there are ways around that. |

Comparing a signed coin to a non-signed coin is like comparing a lightning bug to a lightning bolt.

I do agree about signing! Bob goes way deep into the "why" of writing things down in his incredible tomes on mentalism. I believe its in his Elements series under test conditions. He debates both sides, then shows why he has people write things down.
Its all opinion and personal choice. I like Apple, you don't, "Oh cool, so glad we can have our own preferences" the Café has turned into a kindergarden of "You don't like what I like, youre stupid" I wonder if we could all make an effort to change that? It's disapointing that in discussing this effect, the secret behind the method has been revealed. Perhaps we should restrict ourselves to ridiculing the name.
