If true. What an amazing leader. If not just another internet rumor.
If I were to agree with you. Then we would both be wrong. As of Apr 5, 2015 10:26 pm I have 880 posts. Used to have over 1,000

Apparently it's not true from various reports I've read, but in researching the story I found this great quote from Drew McCoy:

"Looking forward to Brian Williams sharing his memories of flying today's combat mission against ISIL with King Abdullah."

My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums.

The so called islamic State (IS) militants just claimed that a US female hostage has been killed in a Jordanian air strike.

That's not been confirmed either.....and ISIS is offering no proof of it being true like they usually do.

Both articles state that King Abdullah isn't personally flying airstrikes. However, the article in the OP doesn't claim that. It states: "Shafaqna news and Iraqinews.com claimed to have confirmed with their sources that King Abdullah is personally involved in conducting the air strikes." That could mean anything from helping plan them to personally approving targets. There was 'speculation' that it might mean actually flying airstrikes but that's not what the article claimed. So, yes, it may well be true.

The headline in the OP article clearly states:

Reports: Jordanian King Personally Flying Sorties Against ISIS

Why would any nation allow its commander in chief to personally put himself in the line of fire? Kind of makes royal or presidential security kind of irrelevant.

Sorry. Since the commander in chief's safety is paramount and directly effects national security, he doesn't belong on the front lines whether he wants to be there nor not. (I'm kind of glad that Lincoln didn't lead the charge at Gettysburg and that FDR didn't decide to fly with Doolittle on the Tokyo raid.)

Oh sorry, were we talking about your country? When JFK went, there was a quick turn around and the world didn't stop.

Rome was quite happy to send Julius Caesar out to fight with the legions. Of course, most of the Senate was hoping he wouldn't return.

Um, JFK wasn't president and CIC when he went off to WWII.

You really need to reread your American history. Following the assassination of JFK, the United States entered one of the darkest eras in its recent history. Illusions were shattered, faith was lost, Viet Nam escalated into the deadliest war sinc WWII and divisions were created on our society that have continued to this day.

No, the world didn't stop when Kennedy died. But it wasn't the same world anymore. Putting a Commander in Chief in the line of fire is a direct threat to national security and can, as we've seen, literally change the course of history in ways that we might not like.
